"My lord Magus," the fiend bowed.

"The report?" Magus asked.

"The Guardian Knight, Cyrus, seeks the Masamune."

"Interesting," Magus mused.

"What are my lord's orders?" The fiend asked.

"Fetch Ozzy. We'll take care of it ourselves," Magus smirked. "I'll be enjoying a good fight."

"Right away, my lord."

"Cyrus, you fool. I didn't get where I am today by not keeping a close eye on my enemies. No matter. I'll deal with you and continue my research in summoning Lavos." Magus scowled at the thought of his arch nemesis. "Soon enough, damn parasite, soon enough. I'll have my revenge."

"Lord Magus, we're to go after Cyrus?" Ozzy asked gleefully, stepping into Magus's Chamber.

"To make it more interesting, we'll allow him to obtain the Masamune. He'll not be able to wield it well at first, and it is then we'll deal with him."

"Giving him false hope! Excellent."

"Indeed," Magus grinned at his general. "It should be interesting, if nothing else."

"The Masamune is in the Denadoro Mountains. Plenty of fiends make their home there already," Ozzy said. "We should have no problems setting up."

"Halt, Cyrus!" Magus yelled from his vantage point above the cave.

"Magus! I should have known a foul creature as you would have ambushed me here. But you're too late! I have the Masamune!" Cyrus drew out the legendary blade. "Stand back, Glenn."

Magus's smile was feral. "Do you have skill with that blade yet? Do you think you can defeat me after just having obtained the legendary blade that tests its wielder? I think not."

"You won't defeat Lord Magus!" Ozzy laughed.

"We'll see about that!" Cyrus yelled. "Magus, I challenge you!"

"Hmph. Give it your best shot, then. You're not much of a guardian knight, spouting off challenges like that."

Cyrus rushed Magus, and Magus calmly sidestepped him. "That sword is much too big, it's slowing you down," Magus sneered.

Cyrus swung the Masamune as he rushed again, but this time Magus caught the blade his scythe, and twisted the weapon until the Masamune broke.

"Hmph. What will you do know that your sword is broken?" Magus taunted.

"Glenn, I'll hold them off while you run. Save yourself, they'll only kill us both," Cyrus told Glenn.

"But Cyrus!" Glenn exclaimed.

Cyrus charged Magus, and Magus sliced him with his scythe, pushing him back.

"Glenn, run! They'll kill you too!" Cyrus yelled at Glenn.

Magus cast fire on Cyrus, and the flames consumed the knight, until there was nothing left. "Fool," he muttered to himself.
