Harry woke with a start from his terrible dream, his chest heaving and tears dripping down his face. He could still hear that terrible, shrill laughter ringing in his ears, still see the startling flash of green whenever he shut his eyes, He had been having the same dream for as long as he could remember, but every time he had it, it scared the life out of him.
He climbed out of bed, shivering as his feet made contact with the cold stone floor. The candle on his night stand had long since blown out leaving the room in total darkness, except the dull moonlight shining in through the curtains. He cautiously made his way to his door, not daring to look into the shadows. He opened his door and padded down the corridor, his footsteps echoing in the silence. Finally after a walk that seemed to last forever, he reached the door that he was aiming for. He opened the door as quietly as possible, determined not to wake the sleeping occupant. He could see the figure on the bed illuminated by the moonlight, snoring softly.
"Arthur?" Harry whispered, softly closing the door and walking over to the bed. "Arthur? Wake up." Blue eyes snapped open and the man on the bed sat up sharply, eyes darting around wildly before settling on Harry.
"Oh God Harry, you startled me." He said, before taking in his ruffled state and tear streaked face. "Dream again?" He asked sympathetically. He knew all about Harry's dreams, as every time he had one, he would come to his older brother's room, seeking comfort.
Harry nodded, trying unsuccessfully to blink back the tears in his eyes. Arthur lifted up the corner of the duvet, and Harry gratefully climbed under, snuggling into his brother's chest.
"You hadn't had one in a while. I thought they were getting better." Arthur murmured, holding Harry close, stroking his hair.
"So did I." Harry whispered.
"Don't worry, nothing's going to get you now. I'll look after you, I promise. Just get some sleep now. I'll protect you." Arthur soothed, and slowly Harry fell asleep listening to the soothing sound of his brothers voice, knowing nothing could hurt him while Arthur was there.
