"An Unexpected Phone Call"

"Troy, wait up!" Gabriella Montez ran to her long-time best friend.

"Can you move any slower?"Troy Bolton pretended to roll his eyes, then laughed.

"Well then I'm sorry!" She laughed.

They headed for Troy's house to do "homework." When they got there, they went and sat in the dining room. Troy handed Gabi a glass of juice and sat down himself. They tried to start but then realized that there was no way that they would finish that. So they went to the living room and sat down on the couch.

"Wanna watch some tv?" Troy asked.

"Sure, okay." Gabi replied. They were watching when Gabriella brought up the topic of Troy's ex-girlfriend, who just recently broke his heart.

Troy sighed. "Maybe she's just really not the one for me. Maybe there's someone else." He gazed into Gabriella's eyes.

"Oh." Was all Gabi could say. They continued to just watch, but soon got bored, so Troy turned off the tv.

They just sat there in awkward silence for about a minute.

"Troy." Gabi said.

"Yeah?"

"We're best friends, aren't we?"

"Of course we are."

"Well then tell me honestly. Do you like someone right now?"

"Well actually no. I love someone."

"Oh really?"

"Yep. Even before my past girlfriends. But I'm not sure she likes me too, I mean she didn't show any signs or whatever, so I tried to convince myself that she's not for me and I tried to move on."

"Well what happened to her now?"

"She's still alive."

Gabi raised her eyebrows. "I want to meet her."

"Now?" Troy was surprised.

"Yes, now. Since I'm your best friend, I deserve to just at least meet her."

"Oh okay…"

"Call her."

"Um, sure." Troy dialed her number.

Just then, Gabi's phone rang.

"Oh wait, I think I've got a call." She answered. "Hello?"

Troy replied. "I love you."
