The quiet halls of the hospital was split with a shriek of pain. Some doctors looked up others just blinked. Most knew what was going on the younger less experienced clued in quickly. A couple rooms down the hall a woman screamed as she pushed her newborn son into the world.
The woman through her head back in agony as she gave a last heave and the room was filled with the newborn's cries. The mother had her eyes tightly closed before she looked up. She watched her husband cut the umbilical cord. The doctors began to weigh the baby and check his breathing before wrapping him in a soft baby blue blanket and handing him to his father. The newborn's cries shank away to tiny whimpers as he was cradled by his father.
The mother breathed heavily from the long birth. The father passed the newborn to her and she cradled him looking down at him. She kissed his head lightly.
"Hello Adam," she whispered softly.
The baby cooed as if in response.
"He's beautiful Maddie," the father said.
Maddie nodded smiling softly "I know he is we are his parents." she said softly.
The father smiled kissing her cheek before sitting on the bed beside her. He wrapped his arm around her.
Maddie looked down at her son seeing the face of his father's young and fresh. She wondered if he had the same blue eyes of his father's or the deep hazel eyes she had. She could already tell his hair was going to be the same as her husband's mother a cozy brown. She wondered if her was going to share the mad love of sports in her family. She was sure he would with growing up with parents like Liam and herself.
Adam waved his fist in the air before squinting open his eyes to revel blue-grayish eyes. Maddie nodded.
"He's going to have hazel eyes I'm sure," Maddie said.
Liam nodded "I always told you he'd look better with your eyes."
Maddie chuckled. Before exaimening her son. He had long tiny fingernails on the ends of stubby baby finger which he wrapped around her finger. She rubbed her thumb softly across the top smiling brightly.

After a long day of constant testing and some crying from Adam the new family was able to head home. Maddie sat in the back watching her son sleep. Before carrying him into the house. Their labrador greeted them at the door jumping up at Liam to see what he was holding. Liam scolded him so much that Maddie finally felt sorry for the dog.
Maddie took her son from Liam and crouched down to show the dog. The dog licked the babies hand.
Adam babbled softly before waving his fist around in the air dog wagged his tail before going off.
Liam chuckled after Cody. Maddie walked away to Adam's room. The welcoming baby blue walls felt like they were singing. She lay him down in his crib tickling his tummy. He kicked his chubby baby legs gazing up at her.
Maddie fought down a yawn before turning on the baby monitor and going to her room. She lay down in bed closing her eyes drifting off into a deep sleep.
