This story will be probably be written in short chapters (no more than 1000 words) and each chapter will link in a prompt. There are no cannon relationships to be found in this tale. I've noticed that some of my favourite stories take place in coffee shops and wanted to try it out myself, given that it's Iroh it'll mostly be a tea shop, but they'll sell coffee and other goods there too.
Katara watched the scarred boy as he quietly worked on his latte art. Her boss and the owner of the Jasmine Dragon, Iroh, insisted that his nephew master the latte art his shop was famous for. She handed her customer their change with a smile before turning to Aang.
"I'm going to go on break, you'll be okay on your own for a bit?"
"I'll be fine, Katara. Have a good break," he told her with a smile. Katara nodded and gave the boy, who was almost a brother to her, a smile in return as she made her way to the back room. She paused on her way past Zuko, watching him carefully pour the design onto the latte.
"What are you making?" she asked softly, entranced by his work and the careful, gentle way he poured. It was so different from the perpetually angry state he had they had first met.
"A lotus," he replied with a glance up at her. Their eyes met and Zuko gave her a small smile. "Here, you can take this one with you on break. I'm done practicing for today." He slid the cup towards her and went to clean the tables.
Katara sat down in the back and took a small sip of the drink. She tasted chai, her favourite. A soft smile played upon her lips, she felt as though she'd been given a rare glimpse at the person Zuko hid under his mask and she found herself liking what she saw.
This chapter was written for Zutara week based off the prompts found at the Zutara-week group on DA and the prompt 'Mask' - 253 words.
