It seemed that after the war he was alone. He didn't mind particularly, he needed the time to really get on his feet before he opened himself up to the other countries.

Why was it that it seemed everyone was angry with him? Even France seemed to be avoiding him. The world meetings would get quiet the moment he walked into the room. Eyes would turn on him before looking down.

England came to the meetings but didn't say anything. He was silent to everyone except whispered phrases to France. America had a feeling that England was never this quiet at meetings. He wasn't exactly the quiet type.

It seemed like one of the longest meetings and when England tried to hurry out America stopped him. America couldn't help but notice the sympathetic glances the other countries gave England when they left.

France paused, spoke quietly to England, and then left. "Why are you ignoring me?" America demanded.

"My empire has fallen, America, you're free, don't blame me for what I'm doing. I have to learn to hate you. Until then, I can't talk to you."

"But, England!"

"You're not a kid anymore, America, I think you can handle it." England said. He sounded sad and smile sadly before he left.

America watched him leave with desperate blue eyes. he paused a second before making to run after England. However, when he saw England he was walking away with France, who was cooing lightly.

America had gained his freedom, sure, but had lost a friend, and probably made a vicious enemy.
