The young woman and her parents were out walking when someone started shooting at them. "Go! I'll hold him off!" She shouts to them, instantly covering herself in armour. She slashes and slices at him, her strikes forcing him to go on the defensive.
Just as she dispels her armour, thinking he's down and out, he shoots her right in the heart, following by shooting holes in her body. Her eyes widen as she topples over, bleeding out. Her parents rush over to her. From high in the sky, the Man in the Moon watches her noble sacrifice.
"Goodbye and farewell, Mom, dad. Live a long, good life, where I could not. Tell Sam to do the same, okay?" She asks. Her parents nod. Her parents hold her as she slips away, the life-light in her eyes dimming and fading.
A year later, MIM resurrects her as a Guardian. At North's workshop, the Big Five watch the crystal rise from the floor. "A new Guardian? I wonder who she or he is." Jack Frost, Guardian of Fun, wonders out loud.
"I hope it's not the Groundhog." E. Aster Bunnymund, more commonly known as the Easter Bunny, says. The five watch as a figure of a young woman is revealed. "Who is she?" Jack asks.
"No idea." Toothiana, Guardian of Memories, answers.
One side, the left, shows a symbol of a snowflake. The other, her right, shows a symbol of a flame. "She's a dual elemental?" Jack asks, stunned. The crystal shows she has wings.
One made of ice, one made of flame. The MIM speaks. "Yes. She is the new Guardian. She'll be here in a few days. Prepare for her arrival." He says.
A few days later, their new Guardian lands, elegantly and silently. "Ahem." She clears her throat, standing right behind them. The five spin around to see her. "Hi. I'm the new Guardian, Julia, Spirit of Fire and Ice." She introduces.
They stare, open-mouthed. She smiles sheepishly, scratching the back of her head. "Yeah. I get that reaction a lot." She explains. Jack shakes himself out of it. "I'm Jack Frost, Spirit of Winter, Guardian of Fun. She's Tooth, Guardian of Memories, he's Bunny, Guardian of Hope, that's Sandy, Guardian of Dreams, and that's North, Guardian of Wonder." Jack says.
"Nice to meet you, Jack Frost, Spirit of Winter, Guardian of Fun. It's nice to meet all of you, Tooth, Bunny, Sandy, North." She dips in a curtsey, respectfully. North shakes himself out of his shock.
"Welcome to the Guardians, Julia. Do you know what you're meant to be Guardian over yet?" He asks. She shakes her head, "No, I haven't. Love, loyalty and wilfulness seem to call me in." She answers. "Hmm." North strokes his beard, thinking. "Well, in time you'll find out what you're meant to protect." He says.
A few weeks later, she finds out. "I'm the Guardian of Love and Loyalty." She smiles. She flies with Jack to visit Jamie. The young boy runs out to see his Guardian friend. "Jack! You came!" He exclaims. "Of course I came. I'd never miss this for the world. But, there's someone I want you to meet." He says, stepping sideways.
A young woman stands there, right behind him. She waves. "Hi, I'm Julia, Guardian of Love and Loyalty. You're Jamie, right? Jack's told me a lot about you, kiddo." She says, crouching to meet Jamie's eyes. The young boy stares in stunned amazement.
Jack nudges him. "Well? Go say hi. She doesn't bite. At least, I don't think so." He hesitantly says. Julia laughs, a light, tinkling, warm sound. "I don't bite. You can trust me, Jamie. C'mon. C'mere. Let me get a good look at you." She encourages.
