Run!" Harper cried, turning to see where the others were. Headlights were streaming through the skinny trees by now and their were people shouting. Running for her life, Harper spotted a tree that was wide enough to fit a person in. Jumping into the tree, she turned silent.

One Cold, gloomy night, a young girl named Harper couldn't sleep. Her mother and father had been arguing again and this time it wouldn't stop. Harper was only 11 and felt ashamed to talk to anyone. Burying her head in her blanket, she tried to block out the sound. Only being 11 made her think it would work, but no. The shouting got so loud that Harper couldn't take it any longer. Getting so frustrated, Harper got out of her bed and peeked out of her door.

Her parents were found arguing in the hallway. Neither one of them noticed that young Harper was standing just a few feet away. Taking a deep breath, Harper walked back into her room and shut her door.

Once back in her room, Harper looked around. She noticed her school bag was hanging from her closet door handle.

"I must be crazy." Harper thought as she reached for the bag. After 10 minutes, Harper had decided to run away for a while and had already packed her bag. After checking once more to see if her parents had settled, Harper walked over to her window and slowly opened it. It was 11PM at night and it was pitch black. Climbing out of her window, she set off for the woods.
