Rachel taps her foot as she is waiting anxiously in the auditorium for Finn. He had told her to meet him there at 3, it's 02.58. She isn't sure of what she is about to do, a part of her thinks she will regret her, but she has listened to that part of herself too many times. It's time for her to start to listen to her brain and common sense, not her heart that seems to be too accepting.
"Rach" Finn says as he arrives, his hands trembling a little.
"Finn" she responds, biting her lip, glancing at him only briefly before staring at her feet. "Why did you ask to meet me here?"
"Are you dating Jesse?" he asks, begging with his expression of her to look him in the eyes. She obeys him.
"That's none of your business."
"That's not a no. And I saw you kissing."
"Then you know, I guess."
"Rachel, how can you take him back after what he did?"
"Why did you take Quinn-"
"Never mind." he interrupts her. "Rachel, I want to get back together."
"You – you want to get back together?"
"Yes."
At that point, her heart is happy, if a body part can be happy, and she almost loses her sense of common thought, but remembering what she was about to say regarding Quinn, her brain gets back on track.
"You want to get back together after breaking up with me for doing what you did to Quinn? You kissed me while dating her, remember? And after getting back together with Quinn who did not just kiss Puck but slept with him and had his baby and lied to her about you being the father?"
"You only cheat on someone when you don't love them."
She simply shakes her head when he answers with that.
"You know, after I got upset with Santana, because she told me in front of everybody instead of you doing it in private, you never once seemed to be sorry about lying or about me finding out that way. You even checked her out."
"I didn't cheat, Rachel."
"No, you didn't, but you still treated me badly."
"So you can't forgive me for that but you can forgive Jesse?"
"You forgave Quinn for much worse."
"That was different."
"Sure it was." Rachel sighs.
"And the point is that I never did something like that to you."
"You egged me before you got to know me, so yes you did, even if the circumstances were different and I forgave you for that a long time ago. I'm a forgiving person, Finn."
"Then why can't you forgive me, Rachel?" He seems impatient and starts to walk toward her. She stand still, staring into his eyes.
"Because you got back with Quinn and you still strung me along. Yet you didn't want to reunite, until Jesse got back. I was happy for once, after pining for you for months, and you had to interrupt it. You had to fight him. Because you never wanted me until you couldn't have me. I'm worth more than that. It took me a lot of time to realize that after you destroying my self confidence, but now I know it."
"Jesse's only going to break your heart. I'm trying to protect you."
"I don't need your protection, Finn. I can take care of myself. And I don't want your love that's not for me, only for what you can't have."
"I don't want what I can't have. I want you, Rachel."
"You makes it sound like you can't imagine me not wanting you."
"I didn't mean it like that."
"Right. But facts are, you didn't want Quinn until she was dating Sam. So much that you ruined your friendship by helping her cheat on him." she takes a deep breath. "I'm getting tired of arguing with you Finn. The point isn't to point out your flaws. I just want to tell you that I don't want to get back together with you."
"You sure fooled me." He looks at her with a hint of anger.
"Bye Finn."
With that, she leaves the room.
