Special Smiles

Disclaimer: I own no one. Owning people is bad, slavery is bad

AN: I love, love, love Tonks/Remus! Or Tonks/most people - me included. I do realise that all my nice depressing fanfics are becoming happier. I'm becoming happier. It's generally a good thing.

You marvel at how just hearing his laugh from two rooms away makes your face crease as your mouth can't help but curve up. It's just that it's such a deep, irresistible chuckle, no could help but join in, surely?

The way he knows exactly how you like your tea or that he'll pick you up and swing you around in Grimmauld's kitchen when Sirius is being particularly depressing evokes exactly the same response. You simply can't help it, he makes you so happy.

Much of your free time ends up being spent in the great gloomy old house, keeping Sirius company (though Hestia seems to be doing a perfectly good job of that). Remus will sit on the musty green sofa in the library with your head in his lap, reading to you from a book of muggle fairy tales. You found them when you accidently tipped over a pile of ancient genealogy books belonging to your great aunt.

Until Hestia pointed it out to you, the knowledge that you had particular smile just for Remus had escaped. She mentioned it on one of the many evenings during which you'd both got quite drunk (tipsy, as Hestia insisted) and as you began to explain how you now found his ability to talk for ages on a subject you'd never heard of before endearing, rather than irritating as it used to seem, she shook her beautiful hair out of her face dismissively and examined you closely. "You have a Remus Smile" She announced smugly (and in a somewhat slurred voice). At this point Charlie, who'd been floo calling from Romania, informed you in a ridiculously pleased with himself voice that "You got it bad girl" (he did immediately look horrified that those words had ever come out of his mouth). You simultaneously gave an excellent example of your Remus Smile and did a wonderful impression of a tomato with Molly Weasley's hair.

You couldn't quite find it within yourself to mind.
