Tired crimson orbs stared at the pair of innocent emerald eyes in front of him. They measured each other, sizing the other up intently, both owners of said eyes silently questioning, "Friend or foe?"

"…He's practically your clone." The raven-haired teenager drawled after a long moment of silence.

A booming laugh was his reply. "That all you can say Ace?" The fourteen year old winced as the large, red-haired man that was his mentor slapped him not so gently on the back. "Come on, this is my kid we're talking about here!" The boy took note of the pride in his voice. "I'm sure you've got more to say."

Ace froze when the man gently took the child from his smiling mother and carefully placed the precious bundle in his arms. He would never admit it even under pain of death, but he was terrified. "Well?" prodded the anxious Sky Knight.

Ace sighed in resignation and reluctantly took a closer look at the giggling infant. It was only a few hours after his birth and he was surprised to see the child already sporting a head full of red hair, the exact shade as his father's. His eyes were also of the same colour, but at the same time they were so different. The young one's eyes possessed a brilliant shade of green, full of purity, innocence, and untold strength—very much unlike his father's own tainted, time worn ones. Ace secretly hoped the child's eyes will never see the things his father had seen.

"He'll probably follow in your footsteps; you know, become a Sky Knight at an amazingly young age, and lead the Storm Hawks and all that jazz." He said nonchalantly. "And of course, knowing any kid you spawn, he'll have to have his own fancy move, just like his daddy." Ace subconsciously began to rock the child while pondering this. "Maybe he'll even master the Lightning Claw…though that's definitely going to take time. I'll bet he'll grow up to be just like his old man." He inwardly shuddered, "Scary thought, that."

His lips quirked up into a small smile as the child gave a cute yawn, stretching its tiny limbs as the realm of dreams slowly overcame him. "You're going to be strong one day, even stronger than your father I suspect." Ace murmured, chuckling at that last thought. "You'll probably be famous too, surrounded by loyal friends all the time, and you—"

Ace sniffed the air and glanced at his shirt.

"—are going to be one dead kid very soon!"

Thankfully, the infant's father quickly snatched him away before Ace could commit murder. "Bad Aerrow! No peeing on my mentee!" the man chastised in amusement.

Ace growled, pinching his nose. "That's what you're going to call the brat now?" Said brat's father shot him a disproving look.

"He's not a brat. He just…needs to be potty trained."

"And fast." grumbled Ace, stomping out of the house muttering under his breath all the while. A Sky Knight indeed, he thought, yeah right.
