Title: Unfinished Business
By: Amanda
Feedback: sweety167yahoo.ca
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: Neither Smallville nor Superman are owned by me. If I owned them…let's just say this season would be VERY different!
Spoilers/Continuity: up to Freak
Pairing: Chloe/Lex
Summary: Once a Luthor owns something, it's always his.
Completed: February 24, 2007
Notes: I was asked to do a sequel to "Lashing Out", this time from Lex's perspective. And then the end of Freak sparked this little thing.
You can be a silly girl Chloe.
Just because you left, does not mean we were done. I consider you unfinished business, and I fully intend to see this through. To finish this.
No one leaves a Luthor. Certainly never unscathed.
I thought you had already learned that lesson. I thought you were the one person who knew all about the Luthors, and how dangerous we were. I thought you could warn everyone against us. Didn't you once have a front row seat for that? Don't you still have the scars to prove it?
It wasn't always so bad for you though, was it? The soft coos and flushed skin. Those sly little smiles you'd cast my way. Who else knew of naughty our little blonde could be? Who else could awake your hidden Metropolis side? Oh, we played our little games, didn't we. But you refused to let me be the first. Did you see something I didn't? What did you know then Ms. Sullivan? You and your truth. You and your secrets.
And there I was, guarding your life at the price of my father's freedom. And you repay me by leaving? You walk away.
But your loyalty to Clark is touching…if not pathetic. Always willing to stand up and defend him, protect him. Even at the cost of your own sanity. Your steadfast belief in what's Right and Wrong. And where has that got you? Second sidekick. You could have been more… But don't you see how much more I am than him? I've slowly collected everything that was once his. Everything he wasn't strong enough to keep. You. Now Lana.
Did it burn you when you learned I had bedded her? Wooded her. Branded her as mine. Was it the cold slap in the face, the same your tried to land on my cheek when you walked away? When you thought you could walk away.
And still you flaunt that boy in front of me. Parade him around my home. Try to rub that puppy-love in my face. You stand there with Clark at your shoulder. Your farm-boy hero.
How soon you forget those nights when you clung to me, sought out my protection, curled around me as you cried – sad, scared, worried, but never alone. I made sure of that. You had me. You were happy to have me. Once.
You let me hold you, but never too close. You let me touch you, but never too long. I let you keep your distance. I let you keep your separate life. I let you linger in your secrets.
You promised me nothing. I never demanded the truth from your secrets. But you always wanted the truth, my truth. Always demanding to uncover my secrets. You never really offered me anything in return, and the one time I wanted something you fled. Not so much as a word.
It's never that easy.
Don't you know, you're still mine. My unfinished business. My curiosity. Long before you were Jimmy's. Before Clark noticed that he wanted you…I claimed you. And I never give up on something that is mine.
Once you belong to a Luthor, you always will. I'm keeping an eye on you.
End.
