Chapter 1 -

"Lily…" James gently rubbed her shoulder "C'mon, Lils, wake up"

"Mmmhmmm."

"Lily, you need to wake up." James kept rubbing her shoulder hoping that his touch would wake her. "Lily, wake up now or…. or I will kiss you."

Lily sat bolt upright on the softly cushioned couch. There was no way in hell she was going to let James soft, angle like lips touch hers again. "I'm up, I'm awake." She looked around the room. Once again, she had fallen asleep on the couch waiting for James to return from his late night stroll around the grounds. "James? Urgh what time is it?"

"Morning, around two. Why?" James looked confused, had he heard right or had Lily Evans just called him James? No he must be hearing things. He had only just recently stopped calling her Evans and there is no way she would be on first name terms with him yet. No way, not Lily.

"Why in Merlin's left ear are you waking me up in the morning at this hour, Potter?" Lily almost spat every word as she spoke them, looked fumed. It wasn't as if she didn't enjoy waking up early in the morning, getting ready and having breakfast before anyone one else was up, it was just that she preferred it to be more around the six o'clock mark when she first opened her eyes. Not this early.

James looked at Lily; Merlin did he loves looking into those eyes, those bright green eyes that sparkled, even if when she had just been woken up. Although James was a little startled at the fact that she had raised her voice but he wasn't surprised.

He replied calmly "Lily, you told me that if I was to ever walk in and find you sleeping on the couch, I was to wake you as you don't like getting a sore back from lying in a crumpled position all night." He paused for a breath but wasn't finished "Also you said that if I was to ever pick you up you were going to hex my man parts off, I think you said you would do worse if you were to ever find that I was in your room." He cocked his head to one side. "Really, Lils, if you don't like getting woken up at this hour maybe you should let me carry you into your bed, that way you won't be woken up and you won't have a sore back from lying on the couch all night as you will get to wake up in your own nice warm bed."

Lily didn't say anything, she just stared back in shock. Since when had James Potter actually listen to any of the threats she had made? Since when had James listened at all? Usually he was too busy staring at her or asking her out or ruffling his hair to make it look like he had just been flying a broom.

"Since when do you listen to me and my threats Potter?"

James didn't answer he just started walking towards his bedroom door.

"And, what were you doing getting back at this time of the night?"

He stopped and turned back to face Lily. "Oh, Lily, how you would love to know," and with that he turned around and went through into his bedroom.
