A/N: Hello! I know I said I would be taking a break from fanfiction, but I couldn't get this out of my mind. Please review!
Disclaimer: I don't own star wars Rebels.
Sabine had been the first to go.
It was a blaster wound, he remembered. They had been on a mission to pick up medical supplies -how ironic, now that Zeb thought about it- and on the way, a stormtrooper had shot Sabine in the side.
Despite Hera's best efforts, the young Mandalorean had died two days later, after the wound had gotten infected.
After Sabine's death, none of them wanted to continue with their duties as a rebel. But they did it for Sabine, knowing that's what she would've wanted them to do. Until of course, the day Hera got sick….
It started out as just a simple, common, Twi'lek cold. Hera kept protesting she was fine, but the cold grew a little worse every day. After a little while, Hera had become delusional, and could barely sit up.
It was the end of her, Zeb knew. He said seen that expression -her expression- on so many people right before they died. Sabine, his family…
Hera died two days later, with Kanan at her side. Her last words were said to have been, "I love you."
But the four of them; Zeb, Ezra, Kanan, and Chopper, kept rebelling against the Empire. Because that's what Hera and Sabine would have wanted them to do…..right?
Right?
Right?
Then one day, a teary-eyed Ezra had come back from the mission, with the news that his Master had died at the hands of the Inquisitors. That he was a padawan no longer.
Zeb never fell asleep that night. All his friends were dying -again- and there was nothing he could do to stop it. Could he?
Zeb told Ezra of his plan the next day. They could go live on some planet in the outer rim, away from the Empire, away from all that death.
But Ezra kept insisting that they needed to continue to rebel. It was their duty, and was what Sabine and the others would have wanted.
Chopper just grunted.
So, there they were, a tiny rebellion. Like a raindrop in a bucket of water, sending ripples over the surface.
One day, after helping a cadet escape the Imperial Academy, they decided to start recruiting members. Have a full crew again.
That turned out to be an impossible dream.
Their one recruited member, -Zeke was his name- gave up their locations in order to obtain money from the Empire.
Then, if that wasn't enough, the Imperials executed Ezra before Zeb could go save him.
So it was just the two of them. Zeb and Chopper. But now they were rebelling against the Empire for so much more.
For their friends.
