So, this is my first story ever. Hopefully you will like it! Please review!

The road was going to end, and he knew it. The others knew it, too. Stolen glances at each other, a sadness in their eyes. And terror. That was there too. A terror of what they knew was to come.
He thought of all that had passed. Meeting the Pevensies in the woods, nearly killing Peter in the process. He smiled at the thought. The man was a dangerous swordsman. He thought of how close he had gotten to Edmund and Lucy, the smiles and fun they shared, and the sly innocence that resided in them both. He thought of Susan. The way she carried herself, the way she spoke, the way she cared for her family, the sound of her laughter...
The stop of motion beneath him returned him from the abyss of his thoughts to the reality of his surroundings. Everybody dismounted their steeds slowly, trying to delay what was creeping up on them all. The time to say goodbye, and to never look back.
Caspian's ears were ringing as they all listened to Aslan. He only saw the movement of the lion's mouth, but heard no sound. He watched the few Telmarine men and women that chose to leave walk through the tree. He tried again to hear Aslan's voice, but all he heard was the blood rushing in his ears. He saw the siblings say their goodbyes to the other four that came to see them off. Then Susan turned to him, her voice breaking through to his mind.
"I'm glad I came back."
Caspian smiled humorlessly. "I wish we had more time together."
"It wouldn't work anyway," she replied, a smile slowly finding it's way to her lips.
"Why not?"
The smile spread. "I am thirteen hundred years older than you."
He smiled back, wanting to say something, but the words caught in his throat as she turned to go. His heart stopped as she turned around again, rushing towards him and kissed his lips with her own. He felt like his world was turned upside down. He heard the crowd gasp, felt her hands in his hair. He snaked his arms around her waist, not wanting to let go. She slowly and reluctantly pulled away and hugged him. He placed a kiss on her shoulder that was bared by her dress and watched her walk away again.
Aslan's face suddenly changed as Edmund began to lead them back to their world. Thoughts raced through his head. Love, life, honor, loyalty, love, life, honor, loyalty... "Stop!" he roared. Edmund spun on his heels, his face lighting up more every moment. The others stopped and turned as well, slowly, not truly wanting to believe it.
"Stop," he said again. He sighed. "You do belong to both worlds," he said slowly, carefully choosing his words. "But Susan and Caspian have shown me more of the truth. Love lives here, in you all. Love is something you can't live without. I know that you don't love your own world. I was watching over you all when you went back the first time. You... you shall stay. Until the end of your days, and then you shall stay even more, living on in the hearts of those you love and who love you."
They stood like rocks, the roar of the crowd washing over them. The love of the people was felt through their voices, sounding out their elation, felt through the ground by the stamping of their feet, felt in the deepest caverns of their chests by the horns that heralded the dawning of a new age. The Golden Age of Narnia had come again.
The road had ended, and they knew it. Just not as they anticipated.

And yes, this is a very short chapter. Normally, they aren't quite this short, so I'm sorry if that's a turn off for this story. They'll get a bit longer, I promise... IF you review! =)
