Prologue
"Just because your country isn't my country, your culture isn't my culture, your world isn't my world, It doesn't mean that betrayal isn't still the same. And you of all people should know how hard it is for me to trust anyone and let them in.
But I trusted you above all else, I let you into my home, into my heart and you pay me back by hurting me worst than anybody in my life has.
Maybe it's a good thing that I realised what it felt like to be part of your world before I plunged in head first and lost myself. And, don't worry, now that I have seen what it's like to live a life like yours, I want nothing to do with your lifestyle; I want nothing to do with you or your family.
You hurt me terribly and I'm not sure that I'll ever be able to forgive you one day. But all I know is that I can't live after this, all that is left is survival. And we all know I'm an expert in it."
"Please, let me try to explain." he pleads with her, but she is too hurt, heartbroken, humiliated and defeated to listen to anything he has to say at the moment.
"There is nothing left to explain all that had to be said was said. I wish you a happy life and hope to never see you again." She then slams the door in his face and crawls alongside it until she hits the floor, crying. He hears her sobs and feels even worst knowing that he is the source of the pain she's feeling.
He has to fix this, even if it was the last thing he does. She is the love of his life and he can't afford to loose her. He has to win her back even if it means loosing everything else in the process. But he doesn't know how to pursue his quest, none of her friends would talk to him, and he doesn't feel comfortable asking for any help from his entourage as they are the reason that he found himself in this predicament in the first place.
Besides, his family has more pressing matters to attend like his father's health. And, Fitz felt like he had to do it on his own, to prove to his father that he is capable of fixing his own mess. He has to do this on his own not only for his father but also for the love of his life to know that he values her above all else. He has to prove to her that he is not the same as everyone else in his world. He has to fight for their love, for both of them; their love is too pure for them to give up. The beauty of their love is worth fighting for, giving up is not an option.
