I DO NOT own kingdom hearts. so all rights go to those Disney folks.
Through time Sora loses his memory of his epic journey. He finds himself back on the islands and suddenly old times find their way back to him. Will he remember and accept it or was it all just a dream?
"It felt real enough. Somewhere in my mind I want to say it's true. Through the tangle of memories and feelings racing through my head. So why do I feel so… uncertain?"
Sora strolled through the streets of a town unfamiliar to him.
"Where has the time gone? How long has it been now? Seven years? Eight?"
I couldn't remember anymore. I rubbed at his forhead, pushing aside my spikey brown hair, now longer and less kept. I looked around and caught sight of a beach just down the trail. Small houses littered a grassy hill all the way down towards the sand. A little ways out from the beach was a small island. I stared at it, mesmerized.
"I feel like I should know it. That little speck of land. Something deep inside me is trying to remind me of a time long since past. But I-I can't remember."
Blurred images rushed through my mind. People I didn't know. Places I didn't know. A large castle in the sky with a strange symbol carved into it. A ship with a captain who had a hook for a hand. A town of lights and shops? A small beach and a secret place…
"I know this place! I know it! So why can't I remember?"
Something came back to me. An image of a mysterious weapon. It was shaped like a—like a key?
"That couldn't be right. What kind of a weapon was shaped like a key anyway?"
I continued to stare at the island as if looking long enough would assure him of something missing in my life. Something bumped me from behind making me stumble a couple of steps forward.
"Oh! I'm sorry."
It was the voice of a girl. I turned and saw a beautiful girl with short red hair. She looked embarassed at bumping into him and was absently playing with a strand of her hair. Someone was coming down the path trying to catch up with her. A boy with silver hair down to his shoulders.
"Kairi! Watch where you're going huh?" he said after catching up.
"Kairi?"
A look of astonishment came over me. Kairi…
"I've heard that name before. I know I have. I think…"
"Oh stop it Riku." She said annoyed.
"Riku? Who were these two? Why do these names bother me?"
The one named Kairi looked at him puzzled. He looked surprised.
"Hey are you ok?" she asked looking at him curiously.
My head snapped up.
"Yeah. Yeah I'm fine." I said. "Listen, can I ask you something?" I asked trying to sound as casual about it as I could.
She nodded.
"What is this place? Does it have a name?" I asked gesturing towards the small town by the beach.
The one named Riku spoke.
"Yeah this is Destiny Island." He said sounding welcoming.
"Destiny Island."
"Do you know it?" Kairi asked.
I continued to stare out at the lone island. When I didn't answer Riku and Kairi exchanged looks with eachother, then back to me. After a moment I answered but didn't take my eyes off the island.
"No. No it doesn't" I said.
"Why do I feel so sad that I don't know the name?"
"Umm, what's your name?" Kairi asked. "You look a little familiar."
"Yeah you do." said Riku crossing his arms.
I turned back to look at her and Riku. Both had curious looks on their face. Almost like they were trying to remember something about me. After a moment I answered.
"Sora."
