Seattle Mid 2000

Lost in thought on the plane, he didn't notice the young lady next to him, trying to flirt and get his attention. Two years he had been flying to Seattle, although Brandi made the trips whenever she could. He liked being the one to fly to her because it meant he was trying, and he must be succeeding since she hadn't told him to stay away. He smiled at that and then started thinking about how to change all the flying back and forth. He knew what he wanted to ask her and unfortunately it wasn't regarding marriage. He thought about what Vin said before he left the office regarding asking her to marry him. It wasn't that he didn't want to, he did, but he just didn't want to lose again. He knew he couldn't move to Seattle since his job with the ATF was in Denver. Even though he shouldn't think it, he knew she could move easier. She could teach at any college, be able to do government contracts from anywhere, hell maybe she'd want to join the ATF as a psychologist. Right now she was doing what she wanted which was working for herself and calling her own shots. He'd see what she thought about making the move.

She waited for his plane to land, thinking this was stupid, him flying back and forth. Wasn't there some other way? She was starting hating this long distance relationship, as much as she had in 1870. She would be more than willing to move to Denver if he would only ask, but hell, she'd marry the idiot if he'd only ask that. She wasn't holding out any hope at this point for him to ask her to marry him. She gave up on that long ago. She hated herself for the fact that there were many nights she still cried herself to sleep over not marrying him. She was getting close to 34 (ok in this life), and she figured that if they were going to be married, he would have done it in the last 2 years, but since he hadn't, she didn't figure he ever would.

He walked into the terminal and saw her, a smile lighting his face. The young lady that was sitting next to him saw the smile and it was directed to a petite blonde and knew why she didn't get the time of day from him. Lucky girl she thought to herself and went on her way. Chris and Brandi met halfway, both with a smile. He took her in his arms, lifting her up, and kissed her long and hard.

When they finally separated, she found her voice, saying "Hey there Cowboy. Miss me?"

"Yeah, more than you know."

Still smiling, she said "You do realize we can't keep long distance going back and forth up for much longer. It's starting to remind me of another time Chris, and it's too rough on both of us."

Finding his entry, he nodded and said "I thought about it on the ride over. I did think of one way, but it's up to you. I want you to leave with me for Denver on Sunday and stay. Move in with me."

She smiled to herself at how they were thinking the same thing and letting that smile show she was happy with the idea, she nodded and kissed him again. She wasn't worried about how much she packed for now and she didn't think her family would be upset; they were starting to take bets on how soon it would happen. Funny thing was she would win this one.
