When Cheren first buys Bianca a Christmas gift, he almost worries that she will not be pleased with it. The thought wouldn't count, no matter how many times she would assure him, and he would have to face the humiliation of being an even worse friend than he already made himself appear. Eventually, he concludes that he does not care after all, because he had never concerned himself with whether his friends appreciated his gifts or not, so why would he start now?
But when Christmas midnight strikes, and the friends exchange gifts, the smile on her face is one that Cheren could never hope to forget. She tears the colorful skin from its box, and pries it open with such a juvenile excitement that makes Cheren feel as if they are both six years old again. He watches her face glow when she sets huge green eyes on the present. It was a simple stuffed Pokemon doll, one of an Audino. (He hadn't known whether or not she liked the specific creature, but was aware of her love for cute things and her affinity for the color pink.) She could not stop herself from throwing herself on him, laughter like children on a playground. As a blush paints his face, Cheren wraps a single arm around her, patting her back. "Merry Christmas," he says, because he doesn't know what else he should say. All he knows is that seeing her happy like that makes him glad. After that, he doesn't mind when Bianca admits that she didn't know what to get him, or that what she did were things he could have easily bought himself. He doesn't care because only the thought counts.
They end their Christmas sleepover thanking each other before finally lying down, Bianca on her bed, and Cheren on the floor. Cheren thinks that maybe this is the most satisfying one yet.
uh have a sugoi christmas or something yeah!
