A Tale of a Cushion
Disclaimer: I own cousins only.
"I still can't believe that he had the nerve to insult me like that!"
Faith sighed; she had listened to Hannah quietly up until this point, but now she reached over and grabbed a cushion off a nearby chair. She held it up (and away from her body) and said, "Go ahead."
Hannah didn't hesitate. She whirled around and punched the cushion so hard that it sailed out of Faith's hand and hit the wall with a thud. Faith blinked. "You really were mad, weren't you?"
"Not was, I still am!"
"Well, I'll get the cushion. I'd rather you kill it than him!"
Hannah continued to attack the cushion and she vented between punches. "I'm shocked that he actually said that! I mean, I'm High Queen! I've fought battles, survived marriage to Peter-"
Faith smirked. "I imagine he'd really like to hear that... Not to mention, do you know who you sound like?"
Hannah paused. "Who?"
"Ed at the beginning of VDT." At Hannah's questioning glance, she quoted, "Squirt? He barely had two years on me! I'm a king! I've fought wars and- and I've led armies!"
"Oh, yeah. Well, if you'll continue to be good enough to hold that cushion, I still need to vent."
Faith obliged, and Hannah recommenced punching and talking. "I mean, you were there! I've been to more places than he could imagine: England (in the forties, too) Narnia, Archenland, Calormen, Telmar, The Lone Islands, The Seven Isles, Galma, Terebinthia, and Ettinsmoor, too!"
Faith coughed. "Don't forget Israel, D. C., and Chicago."
Hannah laughed. "Yeah, those are kinda important too. But, the point is, I've been to a lot more places than he has, and he still insulted me! What nerve he had!"
"Yes, we've established that."
"Oh, stop it. You know what I mean."
"Yup. You're mad and you just want to find a reason he would say the things he did. But, Han, you've dealt with ambassadors who've insulted you with words much worse than what he used!"
"Yeah, I know, I know, I know! But you know me and my temper! I can't stand it! I barely managed to keep from punching him right then and there."
"That would have been bad," Faith admitted.
"Yes, it probably would have been considered rude, right?"
Faith nodded. "Probably. And you would have been in trouble, correct?"
"Correct. But, Faith, I- I- I- I j- j- just- I- I can't- I can't stand him!"
Faith used an enormous amount of self control to keep from rolling her eyes at her cousin. "You've made that quite clear."
"Please dispense with the sarcasm."
"All right! But you need to calm down! Seriously! I mean, it's not like he attacked you or insulted Aslan! That, I could understand you being angry about."
Hannah gave the pillow one more punch before nodding to the Bold Queen that it could be put away. "You can always calm me down, you know it?"
"I've got plenty of practice."
"But, really, did he have to insinuate that I'm a hermit because I'm homeschooled? I mean, he even used the word 'isolated'!"
Faith shook her head before giggling. "Oh, Hannah!"
A/N: Did I trick you? Did you think they were still in Narnia and Hannah was fuming about some diplomat? Well, that was my intent. :)
