"Edea, you have gone too far this time!" Squall shouted as he stepped onto the barren wasteland. Sorceress Edea stood not to far away, smiling, "Why Squall... are you really stupid enough to oppose me?" Squall looked to his side, Zell, Irvine, Selphie, and Quistis were with him. He smiled, knowing that he actually stood a chance against this dark force that stood before him. "I'm not stupid... I just ready to finally defeat you." He waited for her reply, "I accept... prepare to lose, SeeD!"
Squall looked to his comrades, knowing they would support him untill the end... he hoped that it wasn't now. "Zell, go left!" He yelled as his blonde friend ran to the side of Edea. She cast a spell in his direction, hitting him. Zell looked down then at Squall, with eyes full of hate. "No... Zell!" Squall yelled out. Selphie ran over and attacked Zell, just to recieve Edea's attack as well. Squall ran over to free Selphie, but didn't attack strong enough. "Fool!" Edea yelled out as she attacked the defenseless Leonhart. Squall felt her dark powers flowing through his body, before Irvine attacked and freed him. Quistis followed Irvine and attacked the Sorceress. Edea laughed, "Is that the best you've got!" and fired upon Quistis and Irvine, who both fell under her spell. Squall fell to his knees, and hung his head in shame. "Next time, you wouln't leave alive!" Squall watched in horror as his friends, most of the people that he trusted, fell into darkness, and out of his life.
Squall sat on a bench in the Garden, holding a binder in his hands, sobbing. Luckily for him, no one was around to see him in such a weakened state. He blurredly saw Rinoa walking up to him. He felt glad that he didn't bring her to fight. "Squall, are you ok?" She sat down next to him, and put her arm over his shoulder. His voice was breaking up, "...Quistis, Zell, Selphie, and Irvine... their all gone..." She looked at him like he was insane, "What are you talking about?" Squall looked at her, with tears streaming down his face, "Edea took control of them and took them away..." He opened his binder and flipped to the last page, there were several empty spaces in the card slots, "... Now their gone forever!" Rinoa stood up and lifted Squall's head, "Squally," She smiled, "What did I tell you about playing Triple Triad with Matron?"
