The last day of a summer holiday was so hot that people were looking for shady places where sun couldn't reach its beams and dreaming about ice cream stalls, all except a red-haired girl who dragged a large trunk very determinedly towards a small ramshackle building. Above its door was a sign which stated that place was an inn called Leaky Cauldron. The slender red- haired girl was very tired since she had had to carry her trunk all the way from muggles' subway station. She couldn't believe that her sister Petunia had actually got nerves to have a massive tantrum exactly this morning when she really would have needed a ride to city centre to buy school books for her sixth school year in Hogwarts' school of witchcraft and wizardry. Fortunately she had managed to leave quite early though her mum had fussed about extra robes and added small packages to her trunk all morning until her trunk was about to burst. She grabbed an empty owl's cage which was posted very unstably above her trunk and entered the inn.
The inn was very small and looked like it had been in same place at least for a hundred years, yet a lively conversation found Lily's ears as soon as she stepped in. She saw immediately her two best friends standing next to a bar counter and drinking refreshing lemonade. Stella Black who was a shorter one of these girls had shiny long black hair and thoughtful looking grey eyes, she looked very much like her twin brother Sirius but she was a very serene yet warm hearted girl. When these siblings had fights she usually was found as a winner because she never lost her temper without very good reason unlike her fiery brother who was very well recognized in Hogwarts due to his constant detentions whenever his mischiefs had failed or other boys had provoked him to break the rules. The other girl had her golden locks plaited very chastely but the very first look into her blue eyes revealed that she wasn't really as sweet and innocent as her looks let to believe. Her name was Helen Armstrong and with her looks she had got a half of the schools boys dreaming about her. She knew this very well but at the moment her mind was filled with thoughts about her best friend's brother who she had briefly met when she had visited Stella during the summer.
The girls greeted Lily with warm hugs and before no time the all three of them were gone deep into chattering about news about their mates and where and how everyone had spent their summers. They didn't notice the three boys who had just arrived from the Diagon Alley where they had been buying a brand new broomstick to James Potter who was Gryffindor's new Quidditch Captain.
