Grateful for a Demon Half
Ken despises the Kaiser part of him, but he's grateful too. He knows he wouldn't have survived his brother's death without it. The guilt had gnawed away at him: the relentless studying, the aim for perfection, had already consumed him. If he hadn't had the Digital world to escape into he didn't know what would have happened to him. Maybe he'd have flipped, become a delinquent: hit rock bottom.
Or maybe he'd have died like Osamu, a painfully ordinary death he didn't deserve – or he could go higher, take his life himself because it was just too much to bear.
