"Aw comeon Shadow, but it's your birthday," said Rouge staring at Shadow.

"No. I'm not going to that party you set up," continued Shadow as he refused to celebrate his birthday. They were in the city alleyway that morning.

"It's not healthy to be so low all the time. You need to lighten up."

"Fine, I will go, but only because you won't stop pestering me," said Shadow as he started walking away.

"Good. You better be there. You shouldn't always be so miserable."

Shadow was always the dark one of the group. Never shared his emotions, never will. Or will he possibly at this birthday party? Probably not.

You see, Shadow has always been like this about his birthday. He claims to everyone that he has no real birthday, because he was only created by a scientist. Since his so called "family" was all dead, unfortunately, the closest to blood-related family would be Eggman, considering his grandfather was Shadow's creator. However, he never really enjoyed hanging out with that guy, he prefered talking to Rouge of all people. Shadow didn't know why, it was something about her dark personality that made him attracted to her, aside from her body.

Entering the building they rented, everyone saw Shadow and shouted happy birthday.

Good grief. thought Shadow. This was exactly NOT what he wanted. A bunch of happy, bouncy, pepped up people all yappy about his birthday.

Balloons covered the room everywhere, along with a bunch of tables. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Rouge, and tons of other people were there wearing party hats and what-not. A big sign was on the wall saying "Happy Birthday Shadow!" written with colorful markers. The room looked opposite of what Shadow would like. It was all bright and happy.

"Happy birthday, bud!" said Sonic walking up to him. He strapped a party hat onto his head.

"So Shadow, are you excited about getting any gifts?" asked Cream.

"Chao chao!" Cheese said happily.

"Shadow, even though you're a year older you still look good," Rouge smiled.

After such a long introduction, people were dancing and playing games, flirting, whatever Shadow hated was what occured at this party.

Everyone ate dinner there. Pretty soon, Rouge came out from a room in the back holding a large cake. It was colorful and had Eggman's face on it for some reason, only there was a candle pinned into his eye.

"Yeah, thanks so much for putting the picture of a guy I deeply hate on my birthday cake," said Shadow.

"What? I pinned a candle through his eye!" Rouge said snickering.

They all sang happy birthday to Shadow, and afterwards opened presents then danced some more.

Blah, blah, blah. To Shadow, that was what it felt like everyone was saying for the past five hours of the birthday party.

As soon as it was over, everyone started leaving one by one, saying their good-byes and I hope you like your presents to Shadow.

Thank god I'm out of there. Thought Shadow as he was leaving. As he started walking outside, He heard Rouge come out of the building behind him.

"Wait, Shadow," she said catching up to him.

"What?" Shadow did not expect what was coming up next. At surprise, Rouge kissed him cold on the lips. This kiss lasted for well about five seconds.

"Thanks for cooperating," she said smiling. Shadow just looked at her blushing. He didn't say a word, he couldn't say a word. He just nodded at her with a stunned look on his face.

"See you later, Rouge," he said. They both started walking different directions thinking about what happened. Shadow for the first time feeling positive about something. He smirked and thought to himself.

Maybe I should be positive more often.
