" No,Loki."

The two simple words tore right through Loki like one of Thor's twisters and knocked the breath out of him.

He had tried his hardest. He had tried SO hard to make his father see. To make his father see that he could be like Thor. But it still was not enough.

He could hear a sound of protest escape Thor's lips as he narrowed his eyes and loosened his grip on gungnir.

A numbness overcame Loki's body as he thought about what would be so easy. He could let go of gungnir right now. He would.

Because, honestly, he thought. who would care?

Of course they would mourn. That is imperative. But who would truly care about the monster?

Loki finally gave in to the nagging in his heart and let go.

The numbness increased exponentially as he felt himself fall. He could hear the pained cries from his brother as he faded into nothing. But still nothing from Odin.

He turned to face the tear in space to rid himself of the sight.

As he fell through the wormhole it closed behind him. Like his past life.

There was no more prince. No more unequal brother. No more Loki. There was only the monster. And soon only nothing. Not even a memory.

He closed his eyes as he fell further and further into nothingness.

The sight of his mother crying and Thor's downcast eyes made their way into Loki's mind somehow and he gritted his teeth trying to banish it.

The numbness soon depleted as he still fell, and was replaced with an unbearable pain in the center of his chest.

Frigga. That is who cares.

He seemed to fall faster through the darkness as he replayed conversations with Frigga in his mind. Walking with her through her garden. Braiding her long, red hair as a child. Giggling with her as they cast spells that confused the guards. Sitting on the edge of her bed while she taught him magic while Thor and Odin practiced fighting outside. Running to her sobbing because he fell while playing. And afterwards, when she had healed his cuts and scrapes, she would scoop him up in her arms and rock him until he went to sleep.

Loki let out a sharp cry and tears escaped the corners of his eyes.

What have you done?

Then he hit the ground.
