Sorta forgot this story existed... My bad. Anyway, gonna try and start it back up again. Get into a regular update scheduled. I'm going to change the way I write it, so bare with me. :D
I don't own anything that obviously isn't originally mine.
Alice had never felt quite the same rush as she had the day Jacobs hand had brushed against the back of her own.
It was like ten-thousand fireworks exploded along her palm simultaneously. A burning fire seemingly engulfed her wrist and upper forearm in seconds.
She jerked her arm back, her eyes snapping up to meet Jacobs dark brown gaze.
"Sorry..." She muttered, running the tips of her fingers over the burning flesh, prodding slightly at the point of contact, "Do you need anything?"
Bella was upstairs, surrounded by her ever present worrying onlookers. Edward though, had left a few hours ago. Him and Jasper had gone hunting, some talk of mountain lions floating in their wake. This is what led to Jacobs rare presence in the Cullen residence.
"No." Jacob gruffed, quickly looking away from Alice's enchanting bronze gaze, "I'm fine thanks..."
The shifter shook his head forcefully, willing the approaching blush away. The contact had only lasted a matter of seconds, 4 and a half if you wanted to get technical. But he had felt a spark. It was like an electric shock magnified by seven hundred bursting up his entire arm. Tingling through his upper torso, even after she had pulled away.
Her hand hadn't been cold.
It had been warm, like standing under the sun on a spring day. And he couldn't help the grin that spread across his tan face.
"You're looking extra pale today. Staying out of the sun like a good little vampire?"
Alice giggled, a dainty hand floating up to cover her mouth, smiling back at him. "Why yes, yes I am. And are you eating the proper amount of raw venison, like a good strong wolf?"
Chuckling, Jacob crossed his arms over his chest, tilting his head a bit to the right, looking down at her with a large carefree smirk, "Nah, I've been angling more towards the pork and beef lately."
Alice almost fell to the ground from laughter, "I've got nothing. You win."
Jacob chuckled, a low and thunderous sound booming from his chest, warming Alice's entire being to the core. "Wow, never thought I'd hear the physic pixie admit defeat."
She shook her head, glancing down at the ground before looking up to meet his deep chocolate eyes, "You'd better savor it, Wolf. Because you'll never hear it again. Once and a life time occurance."
Jacob reached forward, but stopped before the palm of his hand met her wrist, "Alice I..."
He stopped, looking at the few inches between his hand and her flawless skin, contemplating reaching forward. Letting his hand rest on her shoulder, pulling her into his chest. Wrapping his arms around her, kissing the top of her head. Keeping her safe in his embrace.
"Yes Jacob?" She whispered, her own eyes locked on his rigged stance, waiting for him to move.
"Jake!"
Alice's head whipped towards the staircase, searching for the all to familiar voice that had called for her current company. Seconds later, her focus was back on the shifter, searching his face desperately for any hint of the spark that had defiantly been there a minute ago.
"Never mind..." He mumbled, his arm falling heavily back to his side, as he stepped back from the vampire. Jacob turned on his heal, spinning away from her as he hurried towards the location Bella had called from. "See 'ya later." He called over his shoulder, taking the steps two at a time until he reached the second floor. A small frown adorning his face as he made his way towards the master bed room.
In search of Bella, even though he'd much rather be back in the living room. In company of the physic.
Alice shook her head slowly, not able to move once Jacob had left. She wanted him to come back, to kiss her neck and run his fingers through her dark hair. Sighing heavily, Alice took a small step away from the door, glancing towards it a second later when it was pushed open. As she had expected.
Edward and Jasper burst into the room, loud bursts of laughter filling the somber residence as the boys marched into the living room. Edward quickly changing paths from the previous shoulder shoving match with Jasper to make his way back to Bella.
A mumbled 'Hey' was sent in Alice's direction before he too disappeared up the stairs.
Jasper though, came to a stop at her side. Wrapping his arm around her waist, placing a delicate kiss on Alice's head.
"Hello dear." He exclaimed, smiling brightly down at her, "I missed you, Love."
Alice shrugged his arm off, dancing towards the kitchen, "Sorry, I forgot I have to run into town. Pick up a present for Rose."
Jasper frowned, following after her, "I could come?" He questioned, furrowing his brow in his mates direction, "I haven't seen you all day..."
Alice's lips curled up slightly, in what she hopped appeared more as a smile then a grimace.
"I'm sure. I'll be fast. See you tonight?"
No other words were exchanged between the couple before Alice silently shut the garage door, a heavy sigh of relief escaping her lips as she leaned back against the door.
She lightly touched the back of her hand, remembering the sensation of Jacobs hand doing the exact same. Before pushing off of her resting position, making her way towards the spotless Porsche sitting in the corner of the the garage. Needing to get away, to forget the pull she felt around the shifter's presence.
Inside, Jacob silently made his way down the stairs, being kicked from the room as soon as Edward arrived. He only witnessed the end of Jasper and Alice's conversation, but he had seen the distaste in her eyes as she left.
And all he could think as he exited the house, standing at the edge of the front porch, watching as the glimmering car raced down the path way, was how he wished to return the bright grin to her face.
To hear her laugh again.
To touch her again.
All he could think was how he wished he would have placed his hand on her shoulder earlier.
All he could think was,
Alice.
