I wash my bloody hands in the sink and quickly glance at the bathroom mirror. I gently touch the red swollen area around my eye.

"Shit, this one is gonna be a shiner." I say as I wrap my hands in gauze and get ready to go right back to work.

This is one of the many perks of being a 5"5' woman who's job is to act as a bouncer in this citys only night club. I take my long black hair down and drape it over the injured side of my face and hop back in line.

"Thank Arecus I get the next few days off because of the new trainers coming in for their paper work to be finalized." I thought to myself as I got ready to clock out for my shift and shuffle home to mend my wounds. I was never one to go through the trouble of getting a pokemon. My family had made me fill out the application, which got accepted and finalized, but I never went to a pokemon professor to receive my starter. The whole trainer thing never really appealed to me. I have seen too many people use them for crime and wrongful deeds. For me, that's too big of a responsibility. In my line of work I have seen psychic pokemon used to win poker games, to win lottery and scratch offs. I have seen water pokemon used to drown others, to drain water access until a country or city submitted to another's rule. Fire pokemon burn rowdy drunks or burn down a bar that cut them off before they were too drunk to stand. I simply didn't want to be a part of that whole world. Nor did I want to be the one to fight the crime that the wrongdoers caused. Needless to say I have very few friends and acquaintances due to my strange way of thought. I tend to keep to myself although I really don't mind. To me it just means I can walk around my flat in my underwear and play video games until I have to earn money in order to sustain my rather easy going lifestyle. In the distance I hear the town church bells ring telling me that it is now 2:00am and definitely time for me to leave the muffled rhythmic beat of the music inside.

I reach my street and hear a strange noise, much like a yelp, followed by a loud bang. I run to the noise and find two pidgeotto picking on some very small pokemon. "hey now! Stop that!" I yelled not fully knowing where my sudden sense of justice had come from. I ran towards the wild pokemon waving my arms. Knowing they had done what they had intended scoffed at me and flew off. I then noticed the alarming amount of blood now pooling around the animal. It was surrounded by egg shells. "

"You are just a hatchling!" I say pulling off my oversized jacket and wrapping it around the pokemon.

"Im sorry little one. You are far from a pokemon center. But if you promise not to cause trouble I will try my hardest to save you." I say reaching my flat and rushing into the restroom to reach my first aid kit.

I wash down its hair finally able to determine that it is a vulpix in the dull light from the counter. I find all of his wounds and quickly stitch them, a skill I had decided to learn after my fourth trip to the hospital. I wrap the wounds and swaddle the little one in an old blanket and carry him to the fire place.

I spend the night tending to the wounds and force feeding it until it finally has the strength to open its eyes.
