Chapter 1: Arriving
My name is Mikayla Simpson. Yes, Simpson as the TV show, I have be teased enough for it. I have long dark brown hair, almost black. I have tan skin right now only since it is right after summer but usually I am as pale as the moon. I am moving from wonderful New York City to dreary Forks, Washington. My father got a job at the local police station.
This is my rough draft for my essay that I have to write before my first day of school. I was just making the final changes on the first paragraph when our plane landed.
"Come on dear it's time to get off." My mother said. I just nodded and followed her. I haven't talked to her much since she said we were moving. I yelled at her about making leave my friends and travel across the country.
"I know your sad dear but you will make new friends and you will be able to see your father again." My father had to come here early to get a house and start his job. We got our bags, off the carousel, and went to my father who was waiting right next to it.
"Hey Mick how you doing." He asked. I didn't answer him. I know it is cold but this was their payback for making me move, in my LAST year of high school if I haven't mentioned it. My father gave my mother a worried look and she just shrugged.
"Well let's go I want to show you the new house." He said trying to make me speak. I said nothing. He sighed and led us to the car, put our bags in the trunk, and started to drive. I just sat and looked out the window while watching the trees go by.
"Look honey it's our new home seems so cozy doesn't it." Mom said again trying to make me speak or at least get a reaction out of me. I just sat and waited for the car to stop, got my bags and walked into the house behind my mom.
"Here is the start of our new life," said my mother leaning against my father with a sigh. "Why don't you go look at you new room it is up the stairs second door on the left." I grabbed my suitcase and went up stairs to my room. I opened the door and stepped inside it was almost like a portal to the rest of my life.
