I know that you're more likely to burn this letter than to read it through to its end. In fact, you're probably contemplating at this moment just what spell might best do the trick. I still have to try though, don't I?
I can't take back what my father and godfather did to you in school, just as I can't take back what I did by invading your privacy. The difference, I think, is that I can't apologise for the former and have it mean anything, because I'm not my father, no matter how much of him people see in me.
I'm just Harry, and I'm sorry for what I did, but I wouldn't take it back. Seeing your memories helped me confront things about myself and my parents I wouldn't have any other way.
I still miss my father, and I miss Sirius more than anything, but I understand that they weren't perfect, and that you're entitled to hate them.
What I'm really trying to get at here is.
I'm sorry for everything I've done, and everything I haven't done. I never wanted any recognition. I never wanted any of this.

He stared down at the letter in front of him, uncaring of the wet quill dripping ink onto his scratch paper. He reread the words quickly, and then again, more slowly, before laughter bubbled up in his throat.
It was ridiculous, Harry thought, just teenage drivel that would do more harm than good, in the end.
He crumpled the parchment up into a ball, and tossed it into the bin. His fingers were stained with ink from his quill, but it wasn't as if it mattered.
He had spent too much time trapped in his room at the Dursleys, if he was actually thinking of apologised to Snape, of all the people in the world. He would rather write to Voldemort.
Well, not really.
But the idea was still ridiculous. He needed to go to sleep.
