L never knew Misa has nightmares. He had also assumed she was capable of dismissing such dreams So it was to his great surprise (mind you, it's hard to surprise L) when she appeared outside of his room, a pillow held tightly in her arms, asking if she could the night with him. "Why?" he asked, nibbling his thumb thoughtfully.
"I—," she began, sniffling, "had a bad dream."
L gave a slow, thoughtful nod before opening the door fully and letting her in. "Why didn't you call Light?" he asked as he went over to a computer and sat down in front of it. Misa situated herself beside him and replied, "he didn't answer his phone."
"is that right…" L murmured as he pushed the computer screen back a bit.
"Can we watch a movie?" Misa asked as she smiled at L.
He fought back a blush and gave a short nod.
"Yay!" Misa cried as she quickly took hold of the computer and put on a downloaded movie. She quickly snuggled up against L again before murmuring, "Thank you, L. I dunno if Light would have let me stay with him."
L gave her a small smile and said quietly, "I think you're right, Misa."
The movie began and L blinked in curiosity. He hadn't seen a movie in many years and this one was rather predicable. But he decided to keep his mouth shut. She didn't want to spoil the movie for Misa. Suddenly, Misa rested her blonde head of hair against L's shoulder and yawned widely, "I think I'm gonna fall asleep."
L blinked and looked over at her and said quietly, "It's alright, Misa. You can go to sleep."
"Mmm…" she yawned and her eyes fluttered closed.
L grinned when he found her sound asleep. "Too bad Light couldn't have comforted her," he murmured to himself, "I'm sure glad I could though."
