A/N: Well, yeah, it's all about the music. Please read and reivew. Thanks.
Disclaimer: I do NOT own the Blues Brothers. Did you honestly think I did? No? I thought not. Okay, bye.
It's All About The Music
It's all about the music. It's always been all about the music. From the time Curtis befriended them in the basement of the orphanage and gave them their first introduction to the blues (and soon after that, a hat and a pair of black sunglasses each), that was it. After all, what else was there? For himself and Jake, who'd been in the orphanage since they could remember, the music was all they had.
The minute that record of Sam and Dave played in a gloomy, dark, and very dusty (Curtis had never been much of a housekeeper) he was in his element. He knew that he could sing this, play this, be this stuff. He wasn't a poet or anything, but if he had to put it somehow, he'd say it was like thinking the Penguin was going to beat you over the head repeatedly with a meter stick and finding out at the next minute that she had suddenly decided that you deserved candy instead. Only more toe-tappy.
The blues were something that everyone could get into, everyone could identify with, everybody could feel. He'd hardly ever been to a place where once the band started playing people didn't start bobbing their heads, clapping their hands, and tapping their toes. It was like being a fairy godmother, only of course, he was a boy, and he cussed an awful lot more.
The blues were a music infused with rhythm, soul, feeling, and, well, blues. And blues performers were the peddlers of that music. Peddlers that were responsible for sharing the music, the magic, or, at the risk of sounding like a hippy, "spreading the love."
After all, where would he and Jake be without the blues? Nowhere. Absolutely nowhere. Except for maybe in the basement of an orphanage, hiding from the penguin behind bottles of beer and old records.
So they played it. They played it every chance they got, and when they weren't playing it, they were listening to it.
Because it's all about the music.
