A/N: This is a little poetry Oneshot I wrote for the father/daughter relationship Sesshomaru and Rin share. I don't understand why some people think they're otherwise. I always loved how this works; Sesshomaru is this incredibly powerful demon, able to take down the strongest of enemies and yet he's baffled by a seven year-old human girl who shows concern for him. This story is for Kinkatia, who is like, the greatest person ever and has an astounding ability to write the most hilarious drabbles I've ever read.
Strange as it seems to me,
You're all I've ever known,
To see me as someone different,
From the monster into which I've grown.
I see you as someone,
Who would not turn away,
Whose smile is a literal part,
Of her niche in every day.
Sometimes I often wonder,
What my life would be,
If I had left you there, in the woods,
Where I almost didn't see.
I see the way you look at me,
When you stand here by my side,
A mentor, a friend, companion,
Feelings you never hide.
Do you see me as the father,
You lost in dark days past,
Or do you see me as the friend,
Who brought you away at last?
Do you see me as a demon,
Hateful, morose and cold,
Or do you see me as your savior,
A guiding light I hold?
However you may see me,
As strange as I may be,
You show no fear at all of me,
The reasons I don't see.
Just remember this,
My young and faithful friend,
I will always be there,
To defend you to the end.
I'll never say out loud,
How much you mean to me,
You've flipped my life upside down
And now I finally see.
You are the angel in my life,
My child never known.
My icy heart is melting,
Seeds of compassion sown.
I will always be there,
Keeping watch as you sleep,
I never break a promise,
This one, I will keep.
