Iruka was never a dog person; he was allergic to them in fact. Kakashi on the other hand seemed to be almost inseparable from his canine friends. It was because of this fact that Iruka believed himself to be perfectly just in his actions.
It had been hot, the heat of the summer's day pressing down until the clouds gave in and exploded into rain. Kakashi had trudged home through the storm, on his way back from another dull mission with his team. He had kicked aside the bones, the chew toys of his dogs as he stepped up onto the porch. Iruka had looked at thebedraggled jounin standing before him and crinkled his nose.
"Out. You smell like wet dog." Kakashi's head had hung as he slogged toward the doghouse where he joined his friends in their mass of fur and warmth.
