GAMING

The clock ticked on the wall. Nothing else moved. To the unseen watcher, it was the most interesting thing that was happening. The teenager it was meant to be watching was silently playing a computer game, and it seemed to involve a flying thing. Of course, the watcher knew all about the flying thing, if not the game itself, but this was only what it could see.

Any moment now...

In a flash of red flame that illuminated the walls and cast shadows, the flying thing had crashed.

The teen sat back with a sigh, and waited for the game to reload. But the watcher was no longer watching. Its job was beginning.

It walked into the machine, into the maze of processors, searching across the flashing lines of electricity only its eyes could see...

There was the flying thing, in the hundreds of pieces it had fallen into, but somehow maintaining a shape.

The previous watcher sent a blip of information to the thing that was barely clinging to shadow of itself

With a sigh, it gave up and became merely another part of the computer's memory.

The game reloaded. The teenager leaned forward again, hands fingers poised above the keyboard.
