The sky was colored a beautiful orange when I started walking home. With two books I just purchased, I felt very accomplished. and not only for that! But my big brother actually let me walk there myself! I was in my own little happy bubble until I finally reached the gates of our home (my brother's and mine!). I was just opening the gate when I heard the familiar cries of "Germany! Save me!" it was usually something like that…but then I noticed that something was off. Well, in case you're wondering, the naked man isn't that strange, he tried to cross our land all the time but it's just that every time…brother was shooting at him! The nude man seemed to realize this the same time that I did and looked around wondrously. This was odd indeed. I waited 'till the man left to go inside. I opened the door slowly and cautiously looked around. I hesitatingly called out
"Brother, are you home?"
How quiet the house was scared me. Well, where else could he be? I know that Mr. Austria's home is nearby, but I don't know why brother would be there. Brother hates Mr. Austria and told me to stay away from him. I don't even know where anyone else lives! What if I get lost and brother was just getting groceries or something like that? Plus it's getting dark out! I don't want to make big brother upset! But still… it's all so unlikely… my brother has never left me alone like this… for all I know, He could have been mauled by rabbits! Or Mr. Austria! He didn't even say anything when I left earlier…what if something happened? Big brother is very capable but if nothing happened then why isn't he here? Besides, I don't think I could just stay here not knowing if he's okay or not!
"That's it" I said firmly "I'll go"
And with that, I suited up. Brother had given me a bunch of survival items through the years so I went through those. I traded in my dress, bow, and mary-janes for a military outfit, a mining helmet with a hand light on the top, and boots.
"I'm ready" I tell myself softly.
It's been so long since I've been outside by myself at night that I sounded anything but ready but I didn't have a choice now. I had decided that I was going to go, so I'm going to go, and that's final! I put my hand on the door knob. The metal felt extremely cold, colder than normal for some reason. Then I slowly started to turn it. I froze when it creaked
"no! I have to go! For brother!"
And with that I readied myself to shove the door with all my might! 1…2…3!
Then suddenly the door the door pulled open but it was too late to stop myself

"yes, I'm fine."
"I'm sorry"
"It's alright. But you should've just waited for me, though"
"I know, I'm sorry"
