Just like any other usual day, Jack was chilling out in his frozen pond. For 10 years he'd been roaming around this town, Burgess, invisible, though he doesn't know why. For 10 years he'd been roaming around with nothing but a magic staff (and clothes of course), and the knowledge that his name was Jack Frost. At least, that's what the moon told him so.
But one thing that makes him curious the most, is that someone visits him once in a while.
A girl, about 18, with hazel brown eyes and brown hair. Something about this girl is familiar, just like how familiar Burgess is even though Jack has no idea why. He feels a special connection to this girl, like how it makes him sad when she cries; which is, every time she visits him.
When she visits the pond though, (because Jack isn't still sure if the girl is visiting him or just the pond;) all she just does there is cry, making Jack sad, like he just wants to go near the girl and comfort her, though he can't, because, as usual, he's invisible.
But one day, she started talking to him.
"Jack," she started, "You didn't have to do that." she sobbed. Jack wished he knew what the girl didn't want him to do, because maybe, Jack thought, it could've made her happy. She continued, "You don't know how life became after you left," "After I left?" Jack thought. "Everyone blamed me for your loss," she continued, "Ever since, everyone stayed away from me, everyone thinks I wanted that to happen, but no, Jack," she said as more tears trickled down her cheeks, "Ever since you left, the nightmares became more frequent, I slept alone and the sweet dreams were rare, sometimes I don't even experience them at all," she breathed, "I missed you every night, Jack, It was hard getting used to sleeping alone." she finally broke down, crying out loud, knowing she was alone. But Jack was listening. Before Jack noticed, a tear was trickling down his cheek too. He quickly wiped it, even though he knew no one could see him, and that no one would even notice. He didn't try to go near the girl, he just sat behind a tree, from the distance. Then, the girl got herself together. She talked again; "Jack, I just wanted you to know that I will be forever grateful, of what you did," she said, "But I didn't want you to leave, I just want to be with you again," she sobbed, "But even in my dreams, I couldn't save you." she said one last time, "Happy Birthday, Jack. I love you." and then left.
Jack was left dumbfounded. He heard everything the girl said, but didn't understand anything. He did not know what the girl meant, or why she was crying over ... him?
"Today is my birthday?" Jack thought, "But how did she know? I wasn't anyone before I was Jack Frost." Jack knew he was talking to himself, but he was used to it. He really didn't have anyone to talk to.
But one thing that Jack knew, this girl was special. And he was going to make this girl happy.
