Disclaimer: I don't own Merry or Pippin or anyone or anything else
mentioned here that belongs to J. R. R. Tolkien.
A/N: This is a poem from Pippin's point of view. It starts at the council
of Elrond and ends with him being captured. At any time 'we' is mentioned,
Pippin is referring to Merry and himself. Enjoy and please review.
My Mission
I'm going on a mission or some kind of thing
to help Frodo destroy the power of the ring.
Nine of us set out on that long, dark road,
but on poor Frodo was the greatest load.
The fate of the world was his to bear
The ring was entrusted to his care
In darkness, we traveled the Moria cave
Where I made a mistake and did not behave
I was just very curious, as Hobbits should be
Just an accident, yet Gandalf still yelled at me
I cringed; it made me want to cry
Being a fool is not what I try
We killed the orcs and traveled on
Across the halls and then beyond
We met a creature on our way
What it was I can not say
On the bridge, Gandalf cast his spell
But on that bridge our leader fell
We traveled on in grief and sorrow,
but was there hope for tomorrow?
In sorrow we traveled as Strider lead
Still not believing Gandalf was dead
We traveled on to the Lady of Light
Comforted by the beautiful sight
Her words were so gentle when she spoke
She gave to me a dagger and cloak
From there we traveled on in a boat
With Boromir to keep us afloat
Before the waterfall we stopped on shore
To continue on foot to Mordor
Frodo suffered, I could see it in his eyes.
It was something more than just the rings despise
He sought a place to be alone
To me the reason was unknown
Uruks came and I tried to hide
Merry was there right at my side
There we came up with a plan
The Uruks chased us as we ran
To keep them from Frodo was our job
But we did not expect the big mob
We thought we were going to die
Did my end finally arrive?
But Boromir came
For a time of fame
He fought so very brave
But us he could not save
He died and we were caught
This is the end, I thought
