Struck

I watched as Zuko battled Azula. How can they hate each other so much?

Azula shot lightening and I couldn't tell who it was aimed for. Everything started to move in slow motion.

"Katara!"

The lightening crept slowly but fast toward me. I froze. Zuko started to run towards me, but he wasn't fast enough.

It struck me and all I could feel was pain.

Pain. Pain. Pain

After one look at me Zuko turned around and struck his sister. H ran towards me. "What can I do for you?" By this point I already fell back on the floor and landed on my back.

Pain. Pain. Aang. Pain. Pain.

I opened my mouth trying to speak.

"Aa . . . Aa . . . Aang."

My body was completely tense and stiff. My body was fighting to shut down completely.

"You want to see Aang? I'll take you to see him."

He lifted me and gently set me down on Appa's back. By the time we reached the airship the battle between Aang and Ozai.

"She's hurt!"

"What. What happened?"

They all were racing to make it on top of the saddle. Aang was the first one to reach me. He put my head in his lap and started to stroke my hair.

"She was struck by lightning."

"And you didn't push her out of the way?!"

"I tried, but Azula shoots so fast. Aang please understand that I tried everything I could to reach her faster. But I didn't."

Aang leaned down and kissed my forehead lightly. I opened my mouth trying to speak much to my body's dismay.

"Aang . . . I . . . I . . . I'm sorry . . ."

"What are you sorry for?"

"I . . . I love you."

I was fading and fast. I could faintly hear Sokka yelling at Zuko. But I was only looking at Aang. Tears formed into his eyes. He laid his forehead on mine.

"I love you too. You'll be okay. We'll take you to the North Pole and you'll be healed and you'll be okay."

And then I was gone. No more pain. No more wars. No more anything. No more Aang.

I woke up and found myself on the cold floor. I slowly stood up. I looked onto my bed to see what threw me off. And I found Katara splayed across the bed.

I climbed back in bed and wrapped myself around her. I stroked her cheek and kissed her forehead. She slowly started to wake up. "Aang what's wrong? Did you have that nightmare again?"

"Yea." She snuggled up against my chest and wrapped her arms around my waist.

"Well I'm here and I'm not going anywhere. So don't worry."

"I'll try not to." I tightened my hold on her.

"It didn't happen. Now try to go to sleep, we have that meeting tomorrow."

"Okay." I laid my head down and slowly drifted off to sleep.
