This story takes place approximately 400 years after the last of Misty's books (Owlknight). The plot and original characters belong to me; this story should only appear on www.fanfiction.net and jennatar.cjb.net, where it is hosted. A new chapter should be added at least once every two weeks.

For anyone who remembers my old story The Ties That Bleed, I've decided to abort writing that one in favor of this prelude. Bleed was just a bit too ambitious a story to start with; I'd rather develop my writing abilities with a shorter plot that I've thoroughly planned out.
