Authors Note: Before you begin reading, I'm sure some of you are confused so let me explain. It still has the same, well almost story line, and the summary still is the same fitting for the story as well. The only changes I did was add, remove and major edited some parts. When I first wrote the story I had no writing experience and I'm not saying I have any now, but compared to how I started...
Anyways, I hope you guys like this new and better version of Beautiful Disaster, please let me know what you guys think and if you think it needs improvement or if I need to do some more major editing. I organized much better than how I started before to this story so it's not like I just wrote chapters without knowing what happened. Now I do know what's going to happen and stuff. Now I don't want you guys to get bored because you think you know what's going to happen, because I've made it to 14 chapters already but like I said before, I am totally re editing, meaning I'm taking some parts out, changing how some characters meet and taking and adding some stuff the story line, so you guys might be already thinking, why re-read it if it's the same thing. I can assure you, it's not. *wink wink*
Please give this a chance, I'm sorry for any confusion, please review as I love your reviews because I know people out there read my story and let me know what you guys think!
Disclaimer: I don't own The Sons of Ipswich; unfortunately.
Trees, big, wide open fields of greens and cute little streams were all the Hawkins saw for two hours.
Claire, the younger twin, could be seen with a Nikon camera held up to her eye level capturing the landscape, while Chris, the older twin, was in the passenger seat fiddling with a map that had no use to them, as their father, Henry, was already familiar with the land.
*Woof woof!*
"Claire, could you please quiet Charlie down? I have a headache" complained Chris as he rubbed his temples to further emphasize. Claire only rolled her eyes and gave Charlie, her pomsky, his treat while patting his fur, he settled down and chewed and drooled on the leather seats of the Range Rover of his dad.
"Claire, could you please not have Charlie drool and make a mess on the seats? You know how expensive this car was" her dad, Henry, scolded her and Claire huffed out.
"If it's not Chris it's you dad. Why'd you get this car if it was so expensive?" Claire asked her father as she grabbed a towel and put it under Charlie making a stop to his mess and drooling on the seats. Her dad didn't respond which caused Claire to look up and see her dad shifting uncomfortably.
"It's a nice design." Was all he said which caused Claire and Chris to holler out.
"'Ohhhhhhh, it's a nice design' he says" Chris said
"It has leather seats' he says" Claire followed suit. They all knew the reason why he had purchased this car, Evelyn had been talking about wanting a range rover and Henry thought it'd be a nice surprise to show up with it. Claire and Chris didn't take this 'idea' so lightly, it was a car; it would have been different if he had shown up with a pair of shoes but he's showing up with a brand new car for her. Of course they weren't spoiled, they were more the opposite. They both had jobs and paid for their own wants while their dad would pay for their needs. Having a dad as a successful lawyer wasn't all that great. Their father was almost never home, resulting in Chris and Claire to stay with their Aunt May, and it's not like the dad would buy them fancy things. Their mother, when she was still present, would raise them to be humble and not depend on so much of luxurious things. Sure it was nice to treat yourself here and there but it wasn't what caused true happiness.
The only thing Claire had ever asked for that was quite a lot of money was her pomsky. Living in Nevada was not exactly a place to purchase one. The struggle they all went through to find one close to Nevada and going to Utah to pick it up was a huge deal, it was decided by her father that that would be her birthday present and she wasn't getting any presents for Christmas as well; and Claire was happy with that.
"So what's going to happen to our other car?" Chris shot a glare to Claire when she leaned forward to ask the question they both have wanted to ask. They both had their license and their father had been hinting at letting one of them have the old car. Their father only shrugged and smirked, deciding not to say anything knowing it would add on to the suspense.
"Oh look, we're entering the town." Chris pointed out, changing the subject. And indeed they were entering the town. There was shops lined up neatly next to each other, almost looking cramped, people walked or rode bicycles greeting each other and the houses were spread apart, each having their own land and space. Claire thought it was beautiful while Chris scrunched his nose. Clearly they both had different views on little towns.
"Chris, it would be a perfect place to run, look at all this space!" Claire exclaimed when they passed by an open field, which resembled as a park, only it was a really big open field, filled with people and children all scattered about. Chris only muttered in response, which Claire ignored. Claire was awed by its natural beauty and Henry had a look of relief upon seeing his daughter look out the window with a happy expression. He was nervous for them to meet Evelyn and Caleb and he was more concerned about Claire, she was the one that took their mothers death the hardest.
As they neared the Danvers residence Chris and Claire both exchanged looks; looks that could be described as scared. Not wanting to admit it out loud to each other but they both knew how they felt towards meeting them. They were scared Caleb would be a bad person or the mother would be a horrible mother only in for their dads money. Claire had a moment where it reminded her of Cinderella but quickly shook her thoughts. 'I've got to keep an open mind' she thought. She quickly cleaned the backseat putting Charlie in his cage, or his travel case that she had customized putting in a cushion to make it more comfortable, and picked up the trash and water bottles she had been drinking and snacking on and put it in a plastic bag. She arranged her self, checked to make sure her face was clean and saw Chris and her dad doing the same thing.
When they entered, Chris and Claire weren't expecting it to be a mansion; a mansion with a beautiful lake on the back side of the house and a fountain in the middle of the driveway. They could see two people standing on the front entrance holding an air of elegance to them. Once again the twins exchanged looks. They parked in front of them and Claire had snapped a few pictures of the house before putting the camera back down. Their dad was the first to get out.
"Henry! I've missed you!" Evelyn spoke as she walked towards their dad with her arms open, which her father responded by picking her up by the waist and spinning her in a circle. Evelyn had soon realized what vehicle they had driven in and clapped her hands together while gasping.
"Henry…" she trailed off while Henry led her to the car. Claire could only shudder and look at Chris who had the same expression. It seemed as if the older couple had forgotten of the rest because the younger adults stood there in uncomfortable silence. Claire gently kicked Chris when she saw Caleb look away from Chris glare.
"Hey there, my name is Claire and this is-"
"Chris. What's up?" Chris interrupted her as he held his hand out.
"I know, nice to finally meet you guys in person. Henry has talked a lot about you guys, I feel as if I already know you." Caleb responded politely and took Chris hand. It was silence again.
"Well, it's a beautiful home you have, and such wide open space!" Claire threw her hands out to and Caleb chuckled.
"It's soon to be your home."
They all looked to see who had spoken out and saw Evelyn smile kindly at them. Henry had his arm wrapped around her and she was pressing into his side with a happy look.
"Y-yes, that's, correct. Yes." Claire fumbled and looked at Chris for help. She was scared in meeting her, and it didn't help that she was a shy person to begin with.
"Hello, it's nice to meet you; I'm assuming you know who we are." Chris greeted her while he pulled Claire in close.
"Ah yes, both chocolate brow hair, mischievous hazel eyes, and a kind smile, you're the twins Henry has been telling, or warming me about should I say." She chuckled while looking up at Henry who only shrugged his shoulders.
"Why, ma'am, we have no mischievous glint in our eyes, we're pure, kind hearted souls who don't wish to cause any…"
"Of this mischievousness' that you speak of." Claire had finished for Chris who had both spoken in a southern accent. It was true if you met the Hawkins twins, you could describe them as having chocolate hair, hazel eyes with a mischievous glint to them, and kind smiles. You didn't know if they were up to no good or if they were the good.
Evelyn and Caleb laughed while Henry shot a glare to his children who he knew, were soon going to start on their little trouble-making. Despite Claire being shy to meet people at first, that's all it was, being shy, at first. Once she got comfortable with you, which most of the time was fast, she would expose her true self, which she would love to make people around her laugh and aiding her older twin to stir a little harmless trouble and pranks here and there.
"But in all seriousness, it's nice to meet you and my brother and I are happy you've accepted us into your lovely home." Claire had stepped forward giving Evelyn a smile that made Evelyn step forward as well and engulf her in a hug.
"Oh, I know I'll have so much fun with you around." She squealed and Claire looked at her dad for help.
"Evelyn's always wanted a daughter," Henry explained.
"Something she reminds me of every now and then." Caleb joked which caused Evelyn to open her mouth about to say something when a barking could be heard.
"Charlie!" Claire ran over to the car opened the door and Charlie jumped out wagging his tail. Claire grabbed his leash; made sure it was on him right and carried him in his arms bringing him over to the Danvers.
"I'd like you to meet my baby, Charlie. He doesn't bite." She added when her father gave her a look. Evelyn cooed at him, and carried him bringing him over to Caleb who nervously petted him.
"What do you mean he doesn't bite? I have three bite marks to prove you wrong!" Chris exclaimed while Claire only stuck her tongue out at him.
"That's because you're a big fat meanie."
"Seriously? A big fat meanie? That's the best you could come up with?"
"Perhaps I should enlighten you with more colorful words from my vocabulary?" Chris shot her a glare while Claire smirked and Henry sighed.
"How about we continue this inside, Claire and Chris isn't wearing jackets, even though I told them to bring some." Henry scolded while Evelyn put her free hand on his arm.
"Gorman will help you with the stuff." Evelyn said as she and henry started heading into the house, taking Charlie with her.
"My puppy…"
"Gorman?" Chris and Claire spoke at the same time
"It's going to take some getting used to having twins for step siblings. But ah, he's our butler."
"Butler?" The twins spoke in unison.
"Y-yes, he's been our… butler since I was born." Caleb rubbed the back of his neck nervously by the twins speaking in unison and being asked questions about his butler. He didn't want to seem like a spoiled kid who had butlers and nannies around him. As if on cue, Gorman came out of the house with flowers.
"It's very nice to meet you both, these flowers are for you Claire, and I hope you and Chris enjoy your stay. If there is anything you ever need please let me know, I'll be happy to be a service to you." He finished while Claire had taken the flowers she squealed.
"Oh they're beautiful! They're not store bought so you must've gotten them from a garden. Chris look at them!" She gushed and ran over to get her camera; she went back to Gorman and adjusted herself next to him.
"Alright in one, two three, cheese!"
She took the picture and thanked Gorman once again.
"You're right, they weren't store bought, Gorman and mom have a garden out back that they both work on." Caleb explained, while Gorman had given Claire the flowers he had gotten the suitcases from the trunk. Chris only looked suspicious.
"Oh, here. Let Chris help you." Claire spoke for Chris who had a 'what the hell' look. She looped her arm around a confused Gorman and started walking into the house.
"So you have a garden eh?" She had a love for gardens, and finding out that there were two people in this house who knew how to garden was something that made this a whole lot better. As she continued to ramble off about what kind of flowers she had grown and what she uses, Chris and Caleb both sighed while they carried the remaining stuff inside.
"That's how she is; she get's distracted so easily. Bit annoying actually." Chris explained to Caleb, which only shrugged.
"I don't have any siblings, as you know, but I do have brothers." At Chris' confused face Caleb continued explaining. "Three best friends who I consider brothers," Chris nodded his head in understanding and the two young adults continued talking about the so called brothers.
[*][*][*][*][*][*]
Slowly, the figure stepped forward, making sure not to make any sounds.
One…
Two…
Thre-
"Yo!"
"CHRISTOPHER!"
A booming laughter could be heard in response as Claire lowered her camera. She had hoped to catch the bird in its nest but as Chris so rudely made a loud noise the bird flew away in fear. Caleb laughed along with Chris seeing Claire pout and cross her arms like a two year old.
"Caleb!" Evelyn scolded while she hugged Claire. "Don't laugh at Claire's misery, aw baby, its okay. You and Chris aren't getting any dessert." At that both the boys stopped laughing.
"W-wait."
"Mom, I'm your son." Both boys spoke looking at the older women who had turned away from, and Claire who had looked back and gave them a smirk.
"Dad!"
"She did that on purpose!" Once again, they both spoke which only caused Henry to walk over and embrace the two girls. They grumbled in response and headed to the picnic basket.
The six of them had decided to go to the nearest park; Gorman included who had packed all the food, to enjoy the last remaining light of the day before they had to unpack. Claire had wandered off hoping to catch some birds and nature in her camera and Chris, multiple times, had disrupted her. Caleb thought his mother was bluffing when she said no dessert. It was just a harmless joke; she couldn't really forbid him and Chris dessert. However, when they reached for the cake, Evelyn had quickly slapped their hands away as if they were seven year olds getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Gorman laughed and was soon quieted by the two boys' glares.
"You know, it's okay, we don't need any cake anyways. Caleb and I are going to catch some ball." With that said the two boys walked with their heads held high and started playing with the football.
Claire felt like the princess already. When they settled in the house Evelyn had told her of their soon to be upcoming shopping trips and girls days and how if the boys bothered her, Gorman and Evelyn would take care of it. Henry from the beginning would always treat her as a princess, she was and is daddy's little girl. She happily ate the chocolate cake that Evelyn had quickly baked up while they took a tour of the house and while Gorman showed her the garden out back which she thought was paradise. She ate it, making sure to make little sounds hear and there to which her brother and Caleb would look enviously at. It wasn't until she had finished it that she felt bad for them, so Claire being the nice person she is, took two slices of cakes ignored her dad's warning and bought them to the two boys as peace offering. The three of them rejoined the others as they happily chatted and Caleb informed Claire about other beautiful views in town which he promised to show her later.
As the last rays of light started fading to dark, they all packed up and got into their cars. On the way home Claire had asked Caleb to stop by the store so she could get necessities.
"What necessities? We just got here." Chris asked as Claire hopped out of Caleb's mustang.
"Necessities as in tampons, razors, and all that kind of stuff. Care for me to explain more?" Claire sassed him and Chris shuddered in response.
"Can you grab me some chips please?" Caleb asked and Claire nodded her head.
As Claire wandered the aisles looking for the tampons she came across a cute looking guy. He must be getting tampons for his girlfriend, how sweet she thought. She didn't mean to disturb him but as she got closer he looked up at her and Claire almost faltered in her steps. It wasn't because he was cute, and he had a charming smile, but it was because she had smiled at her in a way that had set goose bumps on her arms. Nonetheless, she ignored the feeling and smiled back.
"Ah, a girl. I am, completely lost and I don't know what kind to get for my friend." He explained gesturing his arms to the various selections of tampons and pads.
"Well, ah, I'm assuming she's our age?" He nodded in response and Claire took a step forward, "Okay, does she wear tampons or pads or both? Cause some girls wear pads and other girls can't wear tampons so, maybe you should get both just in case." She finished when she saw his face contort in something similar to horror. She picked out two different kinds and handed it to him.
"These should be good, make sure to get her some pills for her cramps. You're such a good friend!" Claire grinned at him and she looped her arm around him, leading him towards the cash register.
"I got my stuff already, and if you don't need my help anymore..." she trailed off and the guy looked flustered and amused at her behavior.
"You're new aren't you?"
"Yes, I am. I just moved in today with my father and brother."
"Ah nice, what school are you attending?"
"Spencer Academy, sounds like a drag filled with spoiled kids. No offense," she joked as she saw him raise his eyebrows.
"None taken, I used to attend there before I had to leave, but I'm back now and I will be starting two weeks after the first day of school. But don't tell anyone, it's a surprise that I'm back." He said putting a finger to Claire's lips. She stayed quiet in shock while he paid for his items before disappearing through the door after giving her a wave of his hand and putting his index finger to his lips, to keep quiet. She shook her head, clearing her thoughts before paying her stuff and heading out to the car where Caleb and Chris were talking about the sports at the school.
"What took you so long?" Chris asked grumpily as Caleb started the car and proceeded to drive home. Claire was about to say she ran into someone but remembered how he wanted it to be kept a surprise.
"I couldn't find the right tampons. I wasn't sure if I should get light flow or medium flow because I'm in between, on my first day it's like Niagara falls up in-"
"CLAIRE!" Both boys yelled as she started laughing. The three of them continued to bicker and tease one another as they got home, unaware that when they arrived at their house, a figure was hidden in between the trees of the Danvers residence watching them, with a smirk on the persons features.
Again! You might think you know who the person is, you might not *wink wink*
