(Disclaimer: Have some common sense, I don't own Harry Potter.)
Now, you might think that this is a story about how Salazar Slytherin was a rich, haughty, cruel, spoiled brat. But this is not true. It was true that Salazar was haughty but he was not cruel, spoiled, nor was he in the slightest bit rich. Salazar was ten years old and lived in the slimy crumbling remains of a marble tower and to make matters worse it was right next to a great swamp. There was a door at the bottom of the tower where one could get in and out of the house and once you got inside there a long winding spiral staircase that let up to the top of the tower were there was a circular room with a small window that you could peer out of and two small bedrooms.
Salazar lived there with his mad father Setzar and his six year old sister Serpine. Salazar's mother Serenazia had disappeared when he was five years old and although they had never discovered if she had died or not, most simply said she had drowned. Salazar shared a bedroom with Serpine and her small black cat named Marshy. Salazar was tall, with grubby, scraped knees, short scraggly black hair, and emerald eyes. He wore his fathers green tunic which was much too big for him. The tunic could have easily been mistaken for a ripped dirty ball gown. Round his neck there hung a smooth circular stone. Serpine had long, straight black hair, and emerald eyes much like her brothers. She too was clothed with a dirty green dress-like smock. Their father had long, wavy black hair and had on a dusty green suit.
Setzar, their father was no more than a thief who stole things like jewels and gold and silver. But the strangest thing about it was that Setzar did not spend much of his gold. He swam in it. For when Setzar was not out and about stealing things he hardly ever moved at all. He just lay atop a mound of riches in his room and had three snakes coiled round him. He called one of them Parageela the other Nariboto and the third Sentiroona. Whenever Setzar needed food or water he would simply send Salazar out to by bread, or make Serpine get some water from the well.
It was a misty morning and Salazar was scrambling out of bed. He had been woken at six in the morning by Marshy who had somehow managed to scramble onto his face and give him a large scratch on his cheek. He was now mopping up the blood with a dirty rag he had withdrawn from an odd looking shelf next to his bed. He felt like going to the village today so that he could visit his friend Cynthea stork, and throw stones at the children who teased him. He was looking forward to the visit even more then usual because he had a present for her. The present was a pair of beautiful silver deer antlers that he had stolen from his fathers pile of treasure. They could be fastened around ones head with a silk green ribbon.
Salazar had just put on his green tunic and was know dashing down the stairs. Only a few mere seconds after he had reach the bottom of the staircase he heard a knock on the door. He wrenched open the door and saw a tall old man wearing a purple waistcoat.
"Who are you?" sneered Salazar rudely, eying the man's waistcoat.
"I am Drendle Therenbrooke," replied the man, "You can call me Mr. Brooke for short."
"Why are you here?" asked Salazar.
"I am looking for Salazar Slytherin," answered Mr. Brooke.
"But I'm Salazar Slytherin," said Salazar confusedly.
"Well then my boy," said Mr. Brooke with a smile, "step right this way into the carriage." Mr. Brooke moved aside to reveal a glittering carriage, and without further ado Salazar sprinted towards the carriage, pulled open the door, and hopped inside.
