Yohji, fiddling with a flower stalk. Fidgeting about on the stool behind the cash register; finally standing up to light up. Fumbling with the lighter, toss, catch, toss, catch… fussing with his sand-blond hair, the sunglasses, the hem of his straining black tee.
The rain is beating against the window of the flower shop.
Quicksilver.
Aya waters the plants on display on a wooden rack by the door. Outside, a flash of copper hair, as wet as a bathed cat, a gleam of teeth, laughter. Dashing past without pausing.
Yohji's fingers drum a hasty beat on the jingling keys of the till.
Aya sets aside the watering can, unties his green apron, and closes in on Yohji. Takes the cigarette from his lips and sucks in a breathful of smoke with the tongue-slobbering kiss he gives the blond.
Yohji relaxes. The fidgeting stops.
And Aya lets Yohji's arms cage him.
