If anyone could do this it was them. It might have been insane, but then again where they exactly sane? If one didn't have the other, they would both lose it.
Now it will be just them. No others. No one else mattered now, they were cutting all ties as soon as that ignition turned over. But they only needed each other.
Eli looked at the other, locking eyes "Drive!" he hissed. He gently squeezed the red head's arm.
Tretij nodded and turned the key. The van started with a raspy wheeze. The dash lights gave off a soft comforting glow as he switched on the headlights. The old VW van rattled and shook, letting out a low growl as the engine warmed up in the cold February night.
Eli pulled the seat belt across his body, as Tretij shifted gears. As the van started to roll down the hill, Eli turned back at the home he was leaving behind, his childhood home.
As he stared, he noticed his parents room light on, and then the parlor's light filled the windows downstairs.
He turned back as the front door flung open, his heart sank. Why did he feel this way? Why this surge of emotion? He tried to shake these feeling as he felt tears well up. He didn't care, or was he telling himself that?
NO! He wouldn't regret this!
As Tretij checked his rear view he saw the parlor light flick on, as Adam emerged from the door he saw Eli swivel around. As he did, Tretij felt a wave of emotion wash over him.
Anger. Sadness. Regret. Confusion. Worry.
Were these his emotions? No, they were his lover's. When they made it to the base of the hill, he shifted into park.
"I can still turn around" he whispered meekly, choosing to speak to his lover instead of just sharing thoughts. "They won't be mad." He turns to face Eli.
He reaches out and wipes away a tear from Eli's face, that Eli himself tried not to acknowledge was there. "Eliā¦" Eli turns to look at him. Tretij spoke again "You know they're not-"
Eli cuts him short. " No, let's go before I change mind. We can do this."
