If Wishes Were Watches

Kent lay in bed and admired the poster he'd just put up on the far wall. His aunt had brought it for him for Christmas and he'd put it up opposite his bed so that he could see it as he fell asleep.

It featured the words SKYFALL and had a tuxedo wearing 007 sliding, gun drawn, across the lower half.

Kent had always been a fan of James Bond, but Daniel Craig was absolutely his favourite actor to play the part. He'd loved him in Casino Royal and Quantum of Solace, and he'd already gone to see Skyfall five times. He'd go again if he could find someone new to watch it with.

Kent loved the Bond mythology, the cars, the suits, the martinis, the gambling and gadgets. What Emerson wouldn't give to own the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra watch that Bond wore. Or to step out in one of his classic tuxedoes.

If he had the money Kent would have dressed just like the sophisticated agent he idolised, he'd been online to check out some of the outfits and loved the thought of having a closet full such clothes, not just second hand shirts and zip up hoodies.

He clearly remembered how it had felt, putting on his first suit after DI Chandler had told the Crime Unit to get their collective acts together. From the moment he'd pulled on a waistcoat and jacket he'd been transformed.

This was how he was meant to look. He dreamed of being able to afford the clothes that James Bond and DI Chandler could have. He'd love to own even one of the coats that Chandler wore into work. But he knew that realistically he'd be hard pressed to be able to buy a designer tie pin.

Still, it was nice to lay in bed and imagine himself looking professional in a tailored suit, driving an Aston Martin or playing poker while sipping a vodka martini. Maybe even with an admiring Chandler standing by.

There had been one scene in the new film that had stuck in his head, one that Kent liked to play over and over in his mind. It was when the villain Silva had Bond tied to a chair and was caressing him as they spoke , trying to seduce him. He said something like "There's always a first time..." and Bond replies "What makes you think this is my first time?"

Kent loves that part of the movie. His mouth goes dry when he watches it. Because if someone like James Bond can admit to something like that then anything was possible.

Kent lays in bed and thinks about heroes and possibilities until his eyes close and he drifts off into dreams of blond haired men in sharp suites offering him vodka martinis and adventure.
