The Tale of Joah And Crustal
Introduction
Crustal woke up, eyes drooping, and reached over to her alarm. It read 4:56 PM, four minutes before she had to wake up. With a frustrated moan, she flung her feet to the floor and began her morning rituals.
"First things first." She exclaimed with an exasperated tone, as she bent down to pick up a small rock that she had kept from this morning. She tossed the pebble up and down in her hands a couple times in order to get a feel for it before getting into a pitching stance and launching it out of her window. Just like every night, the pebble made a resounding "BOOM" as the it broke the sound barrier. And, just like every night, the projectile would take an hour or two to reach its destination. Crustal then proceeded with the rest of her routine which, unlike her first step, is quite normal.
As Crustal went through the motions that night she thought about where the pebble was going to land this time. She very much hoped that it would actually land somewhere reasonable this time. The last few destroyed part of her wall of skulls that she had put so much time into making. Crustal made her breakfast and continued to walk outside of her apartment and pulled out her favorite chair to wait for the pebble she knew was coming. She placed the chair right on top of the shattered skulls from her wall, sat and waited. About half an hour later her chair asked in a shy and nervous voice.
"Um… Excuse me Lord Crustal… My knees are" Crustal cut Edward off with a voice that boomed with the power of a thousand megaphones
"SHUT UP EDWARD CAN'T YOU SEE THAT I AM WAITING!" Crustal growled in frustration as birds that were flying overhead fell to the ground due to the sudden change in air pressure caused by Crustal's yelling. And as if on cue, Edward collapsed to the ground dead. Crustal sighed.
"Another good chair gone. When will they learn to be quite."
Crustal patiently pulled out another chair, who was quite this time, and sat until she heard the sound of a small projectile flying through the air. Standing up, she walked several paces towards her skull wall, and lifted her left-hand outwards towards a previously unharmed chunk of wall just in time for a small pebble to slam into her palm. The shockwave of the impact shook the surrounding area just slightly enough for a couple more pieces of broken skull to fall to the ground. As Crustal closed her first around the pebble, the message that was being carried inside through one of her partners abilities emptied into her head:
"Yesterday there was another uprising which was quickly put down. When will the scum learn that they do not have the power to surpass us? Anyway…" as the message continued a smile creased Crustal's face. She missed him. Ever since they had conquered the world Joah and her could not spend nearly as much time together.
