I left.

Just, out of the blue, up and said 'Hey guys! I'm leaving! Don't bother looking for me, I'll come back when I'm ready!'

I'm such a jerk.

At least I was back now. I could tell that Wally hadn't fully forgiven me yet and I hoped he would, soon.

Things just weren't the same as they were before I left. I should have stayed, and been there for the team. For Wally.

I found myself staring into those emerald orbs more often than I'd like to admit. And every time he'd throw a fake smile my way, made me wanna cry.

I remember how we went to each other for everything. I wanted that again. I wanted it to be as easy as it was back then. But you can't always have what you want, you either quit or work hard to get it and that's exactly what I'd have to do. I needed to earn the team's trust back.

I was sitting in the living room when Wally came in and sat down next to me, giving an unsure smile.

"Hey, Rob. Watcha doin'?" I looked at him sideways from my holocomputer.

"Nothin' much."

"Oh, cool. Wanna go to the movies and hang out?" He said this with doubt in his eyes. Probably doubt that I'd want to go.

"Sure. Just let me change out of my uniform."

"Great! Meet me at the zeta beam in five!" He shouted before zooming off.

"What movie do you want to see?"

"How about, X-Men First Class?"

"You know what?"

"No, what?"

"You're a good friend. And I hope you know that I really do forgive you." I searched his eyes for any glimpse of falsehood and found none.

"Yeah, you are too. I know now." I smiled apologetically.

"Well let's go see that movie."

"You know what, let's just hang out and catch up."

"Alright." He shrugged and turned toward the living room.

We sat playing video games and like always I was beating his character to a bloody pulp. Wally had this look of pure determination on his face and so I decided to let him win.

Wally put his controller down and turned to look at me. "I'm here for you."

"I know. I'm here for you too." I stared at him right in the eyes so he could see how serious I was.

"Forever and always? With no brilliant 'Let's ditch KF and the team!' moments?" He was watching me carefully and I grinned.

"Forever and always."
