Reaffirmation
AU: I was re-watching Profiler, Profiled the other night and this story just kind of sprung into my mind when I was thinking what would happen if Derek and Hotch were a couple. This is my first attempt at writing any kind of slash so please be kind and please review. This is probably going to just stay a one-shot because I have too many other plot bunnies spinning around in my head asking to be written down on paper. However that being said if I get a good response I might try to continue it but no promises.
Disclaimer: I don't own criminal minds or the characters as much as I wish I did. I'm just a poor university student using this as a relaxation break from essays, essays, and more essays.
He never wanted them to find out. Never wanted him to find out. It was going to forever change things and their relationship.
As they came in after Buford was taken away he could see the pity in their eyes. Pity he didn't want; Pity he didn't need. He had moved on from what had occurred when he'd gone to college; been able to heal and put it behind him.
The only consolation to come from this for him was the ability to put Bufford behind bars and get James out of his clutches. That boy had a future ahead of him and Morgan hoped he'd be able to heal to move on from the trauma suffered at the hands of Bufford.
He allowed Aaron to embrace him as he broke down. It felt so good to have his arms holding him close, comforting him without, hopefully, pitying him. They had been together for about a year at this point but they rarely allowed themselves these pleasures at work. A touch here and there but nothing overt that anybody would notice. The team knew but that was it. They didn't need to give Strauss a reason to get rid of either of them as she would love to do. Haley knew as well; she and Aaron had an open relationship, staying together for the sake of their son. Not to mention he and Aaron couldn't officially live together because of Bureau fraternization policy.
"Shhh relax babe. I've got you." Aaron whispered in his ear, "No one's going to treat you differently. I'm not going to treat you differently."
"But it's inevitable now that you know."
"Morgan-" Hotch started then paused and re-started, "Derek, I already knew or at least thought something had happened. You were so timid and so nervous when we first got together, that I knew something must have happened in your past. But you didn't say anything so I just tried to be there for you as much as I could. So this isn't going to change anything."
Derek just listened, realizing that Aaron already knew or sensed his history and didn't change anything in their relationship.
Aaron continued on, "Thing is babe I feel even more blessed to have you in my arms and willing to enter into a relationship with me knowing everything you've gone through."
He tilted his head up to give Aaron a quick peck on the lips "Than you. I guess I needed to hear it."
"Anytime babe. Now let's get out of here."
Derek allowed Aaron to lead him out of the rec center and back to the police station. Later that night, tucked away in the hotel, they passionately re-affirmed their bond and love for each other.
