"Kim Possible and the Ivy League Schools"

Chapter 1
"First Day of Senior Year"
"All right, people! Listen up!" Mr. Barkin shouted as the first day of Kim and Ron's senior year of high school began. "Welcome to your senior year, the beginning of the end of your high school careers. This is the time of year where you take in your final days and start looking ahead towards your college lives."
Kim and Ron looked at one another with a shared glance, knowing that this was indeed the pinnacle of what was to come for them.
"Now, as you probably know," continued Mr. Barkin. "Over the summer, you had been receiving interests from various colleges. I hope you all have some manners and responded to them in a courteous and professional manner."
He then looked over towards Ron who was doodling on a piece of paper. The Vietnam veteran towered over the blonde haired boy with a stern look on his face.
"Stoppable, what are you doing?" he asked.
"Just taking in what you are saying, Mr. B."
"What is this you are drawing here?"
Mr. Barkin took the drawing and studied it carefully. It was a drawing of Ron and Kim in a heart and they were holding hands.
"Look, Stoppable," said Mr. Barkin. "I hate to interrupt your recent coming out with Possible, but there is some college talk going on here. Then again, you probably aren't what you call college material anyway."
"I completely agree," remarked Bonnie Rockwaller, looking over at Ron. "I mean, you aren't going to get into a college if your life depended on it, Ron."
But Ron didn't care about what they were saying. It didn't matter whether he would go into a college or not.
"All right, all that matters is that those of you who have received letters of interest," said Mr. Barkin, regaining the attention of the homeroom class. "Must start preparing for your impending interviews. Keep in mind that the first few days of this homeroom will be about preparing for those interviews."
Ron then turned his attention over to his best friend and now his girlfriend. All that mattered to him was supporting Kim every step of the way throughout her college application process.
"And just remember about one thing," finished Mr. Barkin. "That college interviews are to be treated like job interviews at all times because one little screw up and you find yourself out of a job as well as an education."
…
Once homeroom had come to an end, Kim and Ron went about their first day of classes and ultimately met back up at their lockers later that day.
"Nervous?" Ron asked as Kim opened her locker.
"About what, Ron? Is it about us coming out as a couple?"
"No, about the college interests, if you had gotten any."
"It's funny you say that, Ron. I did get some interest from a few schools, but they aren't any just ordinary schools."
"Oh, boy. What is it?"
The nervous look on Kim's face confirmed to Ron that something big was about to happen.
"Come on, Kim! Spill the beans."
Knowing that she didn't want anyone to hear what she had to say, Kim motioned for Ron to follow her into a closet. Shutting the door, Kim took a deep breath and said her peace.
"All eight ivy league schools have expressed interest in me," she whispered, causing Ron's eyes to widen in shock.
"Kim, that's…that's…amazing!" he cried, clutching her hands. "All eight ivy league schools? Those schools where all the eggheads go? I'm so happy for you!"
"Thanks, Ron," Kim replied, still feeling nervous. "But don't you see what concern I have here? These are schools that only the best of the best go to among other things."
"And you are the girl who can do anything, Kim. You've demonstrated it time after time. I mean, these schools are nothing like facing Drakken, Shego or any of those other clowns."
However, Ron's words fell somewhat on Kim's deaf ears. She had a fear of unlike anything she had ever had before.
"That's just it, Ron!" she said as they walked out of the janitor's closet. "These schools are nothing like Drakken and all the others. They have high standards that you are expected to follow at all times. I mean, what if I become so consumed that I won't have time for our relationship?"
"That's not going to happen," Ron replied, firmly yet reassuringly. "We are always going to have our time for one another, that's a given fact. Look, why don't we discuss this more at Bueno Nacho after school?"
Agreeing to her boyfriend's suggestion, Kim went about the remainder of her first day trying to picture herself in an ivy league school. It wasn't just her relationship with Ron that was going to be affected, but also her world saving duties as well.
…
Sure enough, she and Ron made their way over to Bueno Nacho after school where they continued the conversation.
"All right, so I've given this a lot of thought, Ron," Kim said, looking straight at him. "And you're right, I need to take this one step at a time. It's just that there is so much to process. The interviews themselves, finding an interview outfit, my future with Global Justice, everything."
Ron sensed the sadness in Kim's voice when she said that. It was just sadness that was in Kim's voice, but anxiety as well.
"All right, let's take this one step at a time," he said, laying out several Nacho fries in front of Kim. "Pretend that these Nacho fries are a checklist. You eat one, then that item is crossed off. What is the first thing on your checklist?"
"Um finding an outfit?"
"Yeah, I think we need to let Monique, the fashion expert handle that. What kind of outfit were you thinking of?"
"A suit," Kim answered plainly.
"A battle suit?" Ron wondered. "I don't think an ivy league school would like that."
"No, I mean like a woman's business suit, Ron. Ivy League schools will judge people by their clothes, accessories, shoes, everything."
"Okay, so that's number one," Ron replied, removing the nacho fry at the top. "What's the second item on your list?"
"Interview questions. I mean, I'm going to need practice in getting these interviews aced. Maybe I can join toastmasters or something of that nature."
"If you like, I can practice with you, Kim. I'm not college bound, but I know what it is like to land a job."
"Yeah and I have a good practice outfit."
"What's that?"
"The sleeveless navy blue dress I wore to your cousin's wedding."
Then another fry was removed.
"What's the third item?"
Kim struggled to think of what the third item on the list was, but her brain wasn't letting her think.
"Sorry, Ron. I just can't seem to think straight right now. Why don't we just take what have and get ready for that?"
Ron watched as Kim got up to her feet and exited the fast food joint.
…
As she drove home, Kim's mind continued to go at a fast pace. There was so much going through her mind ranging from her newly minted romance with Ron to being considered by all eight ivy league schools for acceptance. Returning home, Kim walked into her house and went up to her room, looking at the interest letters from all eight ivy league schools.
It wasn't just the schools that she needed to consider, it was also her future as a crimefighter and world saver that was on the line.
…
But of course, she needed to take these steps one step at a time, but it wasn't going to be easy.
