I don't own any characters. Samurai Jack belongs to Cartoon Network and Genndy Tartakovsky.
It had been a year since Jack defeated Aku and returned to his own time. His kingdom was peaceful, so why was Jack still feeling so sad for Ashi and all of his friends that he made in back in that future that no longer existed. Some days, Jack found himself wondering about the friends he made and the people he'd saved in the future that no longer existed. Did they still existed in some form or were they erased all together?
Then Jack's thoughts were interrupted as his father said "Thinking about the future again, my son?"
Jack blinked as he saw father appear right next to him.
"Father you scared me." Jack breathed.
"It's alright my son." Jack's father stated. "I know how much it hurts, however all you can do is live for the future." He advised.
The Future...Just hearing that word made Jack relive all of his adventures during that time. Even though he knew that changed the future for the better, he still longed for and missed his friends...especially the Scotsman and...Ashi. At least the Scotsman and his wife had the opportunity to have a family and grow old together. Jack and Ashi...would never have that opportunity.
He should've know that destroying Aku would mean erasing Ashi from existence...however if came down to a choice between the world...he would do it all again, because that what Ashi would want him to do.
As if in response to his thoughts, a ladybug suddenly flew into the room and landed in Jack's right hand.
Upon seeing this, Jack couldn't help but smile. It was a ladybug that first brought him and Ashi closer before they became a couple. He then let the ladybug go and watched it fly off and out the open window.
Sometime later, Jack decided to take a ride around his kingdom. The people looked happy and the villages seemed to be thriving as strongly they did when Aku was finally defeated for good.
Upon seeing Jack on his horse, everyone stopped whatever they were doing and bowed before him.
Jack started to shake his head 'no', but the leader of one of the villages said "My lord, you saved us and the future from Aku, you bow to no one and we happily bow to you."
As the villagers continued to bow, Jack felt a mix of emotions pass through him. Mostly embarrassment and gratitude. Still it was nice to be appreciated after everything he'd been through.
Awhile later, Jack rode back to his palace with a renewed sense of hope for the future, his kingdom and his people.
