Lapis sat Peridot down against the wall of her bedroom. It was Peridot's birthday, and she had something special to give Peridot. They had went out for the evening with Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, and Steven for some fun at the arcade. They'd had a great time, goofing off, and just being overall silly. When everything was over, Lapis and Peridot had planned to come back to Peridot's house to spend some time together. "I'm gonna give you my present then," Lapis had said. Peridot had the urge to correct Lapis on her grammatical error. 'Gonna' was not a word. But Peridot just brushed it off and went along with whatever shenanigans Lapis had planned.

Lapis slid down the wall next to Peridot and fiddled with her fingers. She tucked her hands into her pocket and looked over at Peridot and smiled. "Close your eyes."

Peridot sighed heavily and rolled her eyes. "Lazuli, come on!"

"Just do it, Peri!"

Peridot snorted and closed her eyes.

"And don't open them until I say so!"

"Lap-"

"No matter what!"

Peridot took a deep breath. She was not one with patience. "FINE."

Lapis breathed in through her nose, then out through her mouth.

Peridot wiggled slightly, debating whether she should open her eyes. She hated waiting. Whether it was for test results, or for Lapis, she hated it. But she loved Lapis. Peridot waited a few more moments, tensing when she felt someone press up against the side of her leg and gently take hold of her shoulders. Lapis told her not to open her eyes, but boy did she want to. Suddenly Peridot felt soft lips being pressed to her own. It took everything inside of her not to open her eyes. Lapis shifted slightly, slowly running her hand down Peridot's arm, grinning at the nervous squeak Peridot made.

Their first kiss.

Her first kiss.

Lapis pulled back.

"You can open your eyes now." she said softly.

Peridot opened her eyes to stare at Lapis' lidded ones. She studied her face for a moment. Lapis giggled and Peridot blushed even more. She pursed her lips. She wanted to lean back in. She wanted to kiss Lapis again. But she was just too...shy. So Lapis did it for her. She closed her eyes and their lips met once more, this time with much more passion.

It was just a kiss.

But it really was the best gift Lapis could have ever given her.
